Job Description

Overview

The Senior Analyst Export/Import Compliance is responsible for managing daily export compliance activities ensuring full adherence to U.S. export control laws and handling Automated Export System (AES) filings in ACE. This role requires extensive expertise in U.S. export regulations including EAR ITAR and OFAC compliance restricted party screening embargoed country regulations and HTS/ECCN classification. While the primary focus is on export operations the ideal candidate will also have a strong understanding of U.S. import regulations including CBP requirements Section 301/232 tariffs ADD/CVD cases and trade agreement compliance. The ideal candidate will be experienced in both export and import transactions regulatory risk mitigation and global trade compliance management. Experience with AS400 is a plus.

Responsibilities

Export Compliance & Regulatory Management (Primary Focus):

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. export control laws including EAR (Export Administration Regulations) ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control).
  • Oversee AES filings in ACE ensuring accuracy in export declarations and adherence to regulatory timelines.
  • Classify products under the HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) and ECCN (Export Control Classification Number) for export control purposes.
  • Perform Restricted Party Screening (RPS) and monitor transactions for compliance with embargoed/sanctioned country regulations.
  • Assist in obtaining and managing export licenses exemptions and classifications including SNAPR applications.
  • Maintain export documentation and records in compliance with U.S. government retention requirements (15 CFR Part 762).
  • Ensure accurate export documentation (e.g. commercial invoices packing lists SLI enduser statements) and audit filings for compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Purchasing Sales Legal etc.) and external partners (freight forwarders customs brokers government agencies) to ensure smooth export operations.

    Import & International Logistics Compliance (Secondary Focus):

    • Maintain awareness of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR) including HTS classification country of origin determination valuation and duty assessment.
    • Work closely with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure timely and compliant import/export transactions.
    • Monitor compliance with Section 301/232 tariffs antidumping and countervailing duty (ADD/CVD) cases and free trade agreements.
    • Ensure that all import/export entries are accurately filed and recorded in AS400 or other trade management systems.
    • Conduct periodic postentry audits and verifications to ensure import compliance identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.

    Operational & Process Improvements:

    • Develop and implement trade compliance policies procedures and training programs for internal teams.
    • Conduct export transaction audits identify risk areas and recommend corrective actions.
    • Support postentry audits prior disclosures and CBP Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed.
    • Partner with Purchasing Supply Chain Legal and Logistics to ensure compliance is fully integrated into operations.
    • Assist in broker/agent compliance performance reviews and vendor due diligence assessments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in International Business Supply Chain Trade Compliance or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in export compliance U.S. trade regulations and global trade compliance.
  • Deep expertise in U.S. export laws including EAR ITAR OFAC sanctions and AES filings in ACE.
  • Strong experience in Restricted Party Screening (RPS) and embargoed country regulations.
  • HTS/ECCN classification proficiency and experience with U.S. Customs documentation.
  • Knowledge of import regulations including Section 301/232 tariffs ADD/CVD and customs brokerage operations.
  • Knowledge of international supply chain logistics and operations including ocean freight airfreight and across the border overtheroad trucking.
  • Experienced with Canada Customs is a plus as well.
  • Microsoft 365 Suite of applications with excellent Excel skills.
  • Experience using AS400 or other trade compliance platforms is a plus.
  • Strong analytical problemsolving and communication skills.
    • Relevant certifications preferred: Certified Export Specialist (CES) Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) CUSECO (Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer) Certified International Trade Compliance Professional (CITCP)

Pay Range

USD $53000.00 USD $71000.00 /Yr.
