Corporate Tax Manager

THE POSITION:
At STACK the Corporate Tax Manager is an essential part of the Tax Team. You will play an integral role in the income tax and indirect tax function for our investments organized as real estate investments trusts in North America (including Canada). In this role you will have tremendous opportunities to grow professionally.
To be successful in this role in addition to having strong technical tax knowledge you will need to have excellent communications skills strong attention to detail be exceptionally organized selfmotivated and a master problemsolver. You should be able to thrive in a fastpaced multitasking environment and easily adapt to change and rapid company growth. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for tax and customer service (external and internal).
Key job responsibilities will include:
  • Assist in management of external tax service providers (KPMG US and Canada Grant Thornton and law firms) including reviewing federal and state/local income tax return filings in the US and income tax return filings and GST/HST return filings in Canada.
  • Assist in the calculation of federal state and local income tax estimates. Coordinate with KPMG to ensure timely filing of extension and estimated tax payments and keep track of all tax payments and overpayments by jurisdictions.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provision calculations for US taxable REIT subsidiaries and Canadian entities.
  • Assist in the annual tax budgeting and ongoing reforecast process.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintenance of REIT status i.e. adhoc review and analysis of certain asset and income accounts. Maintain multiple control sheets to document tax identification of hedges new entities/changes in legal form.
  • Review quarterly income tax entries and account reconciliations ensuring accuracy and timeliness researching discrepancies as needed.
  • Manage sales and use tax compliance including annual tax incentive compliance in jurisdictions where STACK has secured sales tax incentives (currently AZ IL VA).
  • Assist in responding to income and indirect tax notices and audit requests from tax authorities.
  • Maintain income and indirect tax compliance calendar.
  • Tax scenario modeling and other special projects as needed.
THE DETAILS:
  • Location:Denver CO In office
  • Travel:less than 10%
  • Compensation: $115000 $140000
  • Additional 10% Annual Discretionary Bonus
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must pass comprehensive background screening
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS in accounting/finance/economics MS/Tax Program participation preferred
  • 68 years of work experience (combined public accounting and industry) in tax
  • Experience with commercial real estate data centers and REITs preferred
  • Indirect tax knowledge and experience (i.e. sales & use property tax) is a plus
  • CPA preferred
  • Canadian tax experience (income GST/HST withholding) is a plus
  • NetSuite experience is a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office product suite especially Excel
  • Detailoriented
  • Strong analytical problem solving and communications skills
  • Team player. Enjoys collaborating and works well crossfunctionally with other teams
  • Ability to execute process and prioritize tasks with minimal to no supervision
  • Proven success in creating efficiencies in processes and procedures
