What You Will Be Doing

Under general direction from the Retirement and Benefits Specialist 3 (Processing Manager) & Sr. Benefits Specialist II the Retirement and Benefits Specialist 2 (Benefit Analyst independently provides:

  • Retirement file certification
  • Counseling on all Public Employees Retirement Plans via inperson and web base presentations
  • Providing Seminars for members and employers for all Public Employees Retirement Plans via inperson and webbased presentations
  • SelfEducation on State of Alaska (SOA) Statues and Regulation for all SOA Retirement Plans and IRS/IRC that provide for the governance of SOA Retirement Plans
  • Work directly with Employers and Members of designated Regional Service area(s)

The Working Environment You Can Expect

This position is located in Juneau at the State Office Building on the 6th floor. Ideal applicants will be customer service oriented and have the ability to prioritize responsibilities to best suit the needs of the division. Applicants are expected to engage in a team environment with staff upper management employers and members as well as other internal and external vendors. Applicants may be required to travel for up to a week at a time.

This position will be required to travel to the Regional Assigned area up to a week at a time.

Any combination of preparatory postsecondary education and/or progressively responsible experience in public or business administration employer provided benefit programs human resource management or a closely related field supporting management in running an organization/enterprise.
