Compensation: In accordance with California law the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Role Summary: The Mentor Teacher plays a vital leadership role in supporting the professional development and instructional effectiveness of early childhood education staff. This position mentors teaching teams models best practices and helps ensure compliance with curriculum standards and licensing regulations. The Mentor Teacher fosters a collaborative learning environment and supports continuous improvement efforts that enhance school readiness outcomes for children ages 05.

  • Schedule: Monday Friday; 07:00 AM 04:00 PM
  • Location: Bogen EHS: 155 N. Occidental Blvd Los Angeles CA 90026

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide mentorship feedback and training to teaching staff on curriculum implementation classroom management and child development practices.
  • Support lesson planning and individualized instruction ensuring alignment with program goals developmental needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Guide teachers in maintaining accurate assessments records and documentation related to student progress and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with Teaching staff ensure a safe nurturing and responsive classroom environment that meets all health and licensing standards.
  • Assist in engaging families as educational partners through home visits conferences and creating welcoming classroom environments.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years as a paid teacher in a licensed childcare center serving children under 5 years of age required
  • Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education Child Development Social Science or related field required
  • 15 units of postbachelors degree education strongly preferred
    • 6 infant and toddler units
    • 3 Administration units required if serving as Site Supervisor
  • California Teaching Commission Child Development Teacher Permit required
  • If serving as a Site Supervisor must possess a Site Supervisor permit
  • Bilingual English Spanish Korean and/or Tagalog preferred

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have BA in Early Childhood Education Child Development or related field
  2. Must possess a Child Development Teachers Permit or California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit 2 units adult supervision including core courses and:
    1. For Early Head Start Lead Teacher: 24 units ECE/CD plus 6 Infant/Toddler units
    2. For Head Start Lead Teacher: 24 units ECE/CD plus 6 units Administration
  3. Must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children especially in the field of early childhood education or development with a minimum two years of experience working with young children in a classroom setting or combined experience in the classroom and group settings with young children.
  4. Must demonstrate competencies in planning and implementing learning experience that:
    1. Advance the intellectual and physical development of children including improving the readiness of children for school by developing their literacy phonemic and print awareness understanding and use of language and increasingly complex and varied vocabulary appreciation of books understanding of early math and science problem solving skills and approaches to learning.
    2. Establish and maintain a healthy learning environment.
    3. Support the social and emotional development of children.
    4. Encourage family involvement of the children in a Head Start program and support the development of relationships between children and their families.
  5. Able to relate well to both children and adults.
  6. Must provide leadership and stability for program continuity.
  7. Bilingual English and Spanish Tagalog or Korean preferred.
  8. Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.
  9. Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California drivers license automobile liability insurance and driving record acceptable to agencys insurance carrier.

As providers of social services St. Annes employees work with clients dealing with complex emotional and mental health issues many of whom are facing significant personal crises on a daily basis. Employees must remain aware of any personal emotions transference and/or countertransference that may hinder the ability to remain professional. As such employees are expected to maintain composure during all interactions and crisis situations implement a selfcare plan and utilize crisis communication to deescalate client crisis and prevent any serious bodily injury or harm.
  12. Prior to employment shall obtain a criminal background clearance immunizations MMRTDAPInfluenza or Influenza Declination TB clearance and COVID19 vaccine.

  1.
