Job Description

Salary:$14.00/hr commensurate with experience calendar for 2526 school year.

Job Function:

The Maintenance Technician/ Day Custodian under the general supervision of the Area Facility Services Supervisor performs general maintenance work with moderate latitude for exercising individual knowledge and technical skill. Maintains the overall appearance cleanliness safety and security of all campuses assigned.

Duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Area Facility Services Supervisor. Maintenance Technician Duties:

Performs preventive corrective and emergency maintenance of campus facilities and grounds as requested via work order.

Regularly and proactively inspects building exterior interior playground equipment and grounds to ensure the safety of all structures and equipment.

Responds to and resolves immediate safety and/or operational concerns.

Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings classroom activities and events.

May perform yard work on campus (trimming bushes mowing the lawn watering plants etc.).

May perform carpentry work in repairing or replacing doors windows walls flooring roofing and any other work pertaining to wood structures.

May perform plumbing heating and air conditioning work in repairing furnaces duct work air conditioners piping instrument controls wash basins toilet facilities or any other related work requiring these skills.

May perform electrical work repairing and replacing fluorescent fixtures control switches disconnecting wiring or any other related work requiring these skills.

May perform minor construction such as building storage bins stockroom shelves counters and workbenches using precision hand tools and power tools.

May perform mechanical work involving repair and maintenance of facility machinery motors and vehicles.

Maintains records of repairs and a daily log.

Surveys assigned jobs and ensures that sufficient and proper materials and tools are on hand to complete work.

Keeps an accurate inventory of all tools belonging to the school. Alerts Principal or Vice Principal when a tool needs to be replaced or repaired.

Performs other duties as may be assigned which are related to the scope of the job. Custodial Duties:

Empties trash receptacles in every classroom daily.

Deposits trash in the dumpsters daily.

Vacuums or sweeps every floor in every classroom daily.

Vacuums or sweeps all common areas of the building daily

Cleans bathrooms (includes toilets sinks and floors) daily.

Stocks all paper products daily.

Provides emergency clean up services daily.

Assists with setting up for arrival/dismissal daily.

Cleans outside hallways and around the building daily.

Mops all floors weekly.

Cleans desk and table tops weekly.

Cleans glass windows and doors in the entryway of the school weekly.

Buffs and waxes floors and shampoos carpets as assigned.

Moves furniture as assigned.

Painting as assigned.

Maintains supplies and equipment (e.g. cleaning solutions paper products vacuums mops etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required to properly maintain facilities.

Receives and distributes campus supplies in an efficient and timely manner.

Performs any and all other duties as assigned by the Vice Principal Principal Area Facility Services Supervisor and Chief Academic Officer

Skills/Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Demonstrated ability to perform wide variety of maintenance and operational tasks.

Ability to work with power tools small motorized equipment and vehicles.

Able to work alone in all weather conditions; selfmotivating; relate well to the public.

Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays and weekends as needed; be on call for snow removal and other weatherrelated concerns.

Ability and/or willingness to learn to use and understand Microsoft Office for spreadsheets letters and other written communication in order to effectively communicate information with employees administration and the Board.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.

Requrirements:

High school diploma or equivalent certification preferred.

Two years of experience preferred.

Ability to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely required.

Ability to perform general maintenance tasks as needed.
