Patient Access Specialist - Part Time!

Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to join our Patient Access team!

This is a Part Time 20Hour benefits eligible position.

The Patient Access Specialist reporting directly to the Patient Access Manager is responsible for overseeing patient admitting and registration processes in compliance with hospital and departmental policies. This role includes managing and maintaining the accuracy of the Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) particularly during system downtimes or noncoverage hours in the Health Information Management (HIM) department. Key tasks involve identifying and resolving duplicate medical record numbers merging and unmerging patient records as needed and coordinating with various areas of the healthcare system to ensure seamless operations.

Education and Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• One to three years relevant experience preferred including knowledge of admitting and registration policies and procedures.
• Able to effectively communicate in English and preferably in French both verbally and in writing.
• Able to communicate effectively with professional staff families and patients.
• Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
• Demonstrates a keen understanding of the significant patient safety implications of maintaining a unique patient identifier in the electronic medical record environment.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
