Purpose Statement:
The job of School Site Based Van Driver is done for the purpose/s of transporting students to and from school onthe drivers way to and from their home to their designated school site based work location. This is done for thepurpose/s of transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicleoperation is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport loading and unloading
from vans.
This job reports to Director of Transportation
Essential Functions
Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior for the purpose of reinforcing regulations andmaintaining passenger safety.
Assesses incidents complaints accidents and/or potential emergency situations for the purpose of resolvingand/or recommending a resolution to the situation.
Assists students and other passengers for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading from vans.
Attends meetings trainings etc. for the purpose of maintaining skills and meeting the certificate requirement/s of aschool site based van driver.
Cleans assigned vehicles both interior and exterior for the purpose of ensuring safety appearance andsanitation of vehicle.
Conducts emergency evacuation drills for the purpose of ensuring efficiency of procedures and complying withmandated requirements.
Drives school van/s for the purpose of transporting passengers over scheduled routes to and from school and/or fieldtrips in a safe and timely manner.
Fuels assigned vehicle (e.g. oil water fuel etc.) for the purpose of maintaining vehicle in a safe operating condition.
Performs pretrip and posttrip inspections (e.g. fluid levels tire pressure exterior condition etc.) for thepurpose of ensuring the safe operating condition of the vehicle and complying with mandated guidelines.
Prepares documents and reports (e.g. field trips reports incident reports inspections records passengermisconduct mileage logs student counts etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveyinginformation.
Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline accidents inappropriate social behavior etc.) for thepurpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel.
Responds to inquiries (e.g. students parents other school personnel etc.) for the purpose of providing informationand/or direction.
Supervises students and other passengers during transit for the purpose of maintaining safety and following districtpolicy.
Provide a safe and permissible location at home to park district vehicle Monday thru Friday. Any and all HOA
requirements are the responsibility of the driver/home owner none of which are assumed or accepted by the Casa GrandeElementary School District.
Vehicle is NOT to be used for personal needs and should only be used for transporting students as noted on assignedroute.
Other Functions
Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform single nontechnical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changingjob conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating school buses; and preparingand maintaining accurate records
KNOWLEDGE Is required to perform basic math including calculations using fractions percents and/or ratios;understand written procedures write routine documents and speak clearly; and analyze situations to define issues anddraw conclusions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: safety
practices and procedures.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic jobrelated equipment. Flexibility is required towork with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific defined processes; and operateequipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals;
work with similar types of data; and utilize specific jobrelated equipment. In working with others independent problemsolving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires following prescribedguidelines; and problem solving with equipment is significant. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform thefunctions of the job include: maintaining confidentiality; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines andschedules; working with frequent interruptions; and ability to read write and communicate clearly in English.

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; providinginformation and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasionallifting carrying pushing and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping kneeling crouching and/orcrawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 70% sitting 15% walking and 15% standing.
The job is performed under some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
Experience Job related experience is desired.
Education Less than high school.
