Restorative Practices Coordinator - Lewiston High School

SUMMARY: Work collaboratively and iteratively to assess generate reflection and plan for dialogue between students staff parents and administrators in order to build relationships and solve problems so that our school community can be safe and productive for everyone. Lewiston High School is a racially and culturally diverse school To maximize the learning environment of our school teachers need to understand who students are. We believe this will result in more learning less disciplinary interventions and a better school community for all of us. In order for restorative practices to work in Lewiston we must develop a system that is based in cultural competency and free of unconscious Range: $ 51995 $62066ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESServe as the building leader on restorative practices by collaboratively creating an implementation plan together with teachers students community partners and parents. As part of the implementation plan identify opportunities to:train teachers on use of community circles and restorative dialogue in the classroom to build community and solve small behavior issues;work with the Devils Advocate committee to implement community building circles in DA;lead restorative dialogues when a student receives an office referral to determine the root of the problem;assist the ISS coordinator in using restorative practices to teach students how to change their behavior;assist the Dean Vice Principal and Principal in developing options for restorative practices and a procedure for determining when these options will replace detention and suspensions; andlead buildingwide trainings on cultural competency and antibias and ensure thatall restorative practices systems are based in culturally competent well and build positive relationships with students parents teachers and the community including:meet regularly with students staff parents and community members andlead staff trainings in cooperation with student groups and community agencies as SKILLS and ABILITIES:Ability to operate equipment including but not limited to photocopying machines and computers. Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
