Texas A&M University is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Digital Humanities Librarian to join our team and support our growing digital humanities initiatives. The Digital Humanities Librarian will play a pivotal role in managing digital resources supporting research and providing instruction in digital methodologies. Additionally they will handle broad interdisciplinary collaboration project management and digital librarianship. This position requires a blend of technical expertise research skills and a passion for the humanities.
This is an inperson opportunity. The selected candidate will be expected to work on campus at our College Station TX location.
Opportunities to Contribute:
Guide and assist with data curation processing analysis and visualization in humanities projects.
Help develop digital humanities collections and exhibits.
Promote advanced use of library resources like text mining artificial intelligence algorithms and digital platforms.
Provide training and workshops on digital humanities research methods and tools.
Advise on developing digital humanities curriculum
Develop LibGuides and other documentation to support digital humanities research techniques.
Work with the Electronic Resources Librarian Director of Digital Collections and the Center of Digital Humanities Research team to ensure the proper acquisition transformation and availability of licensed and openaccess electronic humanitiesfocused data for responsible text mining.
Participate in professional organizations and collaboration opportunities.
Participate in professional conferences and monitor developments and best practices elsewhere to ensure excellence in research support.
Qualifications:
Masters degree in Library Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of academic library functions.
A wellqualified candidate will also have some combination of:
Experience with digital humanities in a research or academic setting.
Experience working with public academic or specialized libraries and archives.
Skill with scripted data cleanup and specialized data management tools.
Demonstrated history of exemplary customer service.
Strong background in humanities librarianship and strong technical acumen with information management data mining and repository software.
Some coding or software development expertise is preferred.
Familiarity with metadata standards and digital humanities practices.
Ability to apply techniques including text mining and data visualization.
Ability to curate digital exhibits for discoverability fidelity and impact.
Awareness of the implications of special collections.
Ability to communicate with colleagues and researchers.
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidates education and experience. Salary amounts will be discussed during the initial interview.
