JOB GOALProvide students receiving special education services with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill theirpotential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and otherinstructional materials according to ability levels. May work in selfcontained general education team departmental or itinerant capacity as QUALIFICATIONS:o Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or universityo Valid Texas teacher certificate in Special Education and content assignedDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:o Understands and supports the mission vision and values of Harmony Public Schools.o Models and instills a love of learningo Teaches multiple academic subjects in a resource room setting and/or provides inclass support through inclusion.o Plans prepares and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that maximize student engagement and learning.o Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational cultural and linguisticbackgrounds in order to meet the individual needs of students.o Implements a clear and consistent behavior management system while developing students character and sense ofcommunity in the classroom.o Uses relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.o Implements instructional programs adopted by Harmony for assigned studentso Collects data to determine students strengths and weaknesseso Collects data in order to develop students standardsbased IEPso Collects data in order to measure students progress on IEPso Collaborates with parents teachers and other relevant staff members in developing and implementing IEPso Modifies the curriculum utilized by HPS based on the individual needs of each studento Assists general education teachers in implementing a modified curriculumo Provides case management duties for assigned studentso Attends ARD meetings for assigned studentso Prepares ARD paperwork for assigned studentso Attends department school district and parent meetings.o Participates in district and campus staff development and serves on staff committees.o Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues.o Maintains accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulations.o Prepares required reports on students and activitieso Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activitieso Assigns and grades classwork homework tests and assignments.o Takes daily attendanceo Communicates necessary information regularly to students colleagues and parents regarding student progress andstudent needso Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students parents and community members.o Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students equipment materials and facilities.o Performs other duties as AND ABILITIES:o Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.o Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.o Ability to lead a team of people for purposes of developing effective teaching strategies for students with disabilities.o Ability to teach several lesson plans at the same time.o Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management both internal and externalto the district.o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.o Ability to use effective organizational interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to use computer including software database used by the district spreadsheet and word processing softwarecalculator copy machine and telephone.o Ability to analyze ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:o Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.o Position is in classroom setting and intermittent speaking standing walking and writing.o Moderate travel is required.
