Status: Temporary FullTime (Union position)
Schedule:Monday Friday (possible work on Saturdays and evenings)
Hours:35 hrs/week
Wage:$33.77 $38.77/hour (Starting at $33.77/hr)

The Opportunity:

Working under the direction of the Manager of Youth Programs Program Coordinator II is responsible for the overall administration coordination and delivery of DIVERSEcitys Schools Out Summer Camps. This includes planning implementation evaluation and reporting to ensure the smooth and successful operation of highquality inclusive programming for children ages 612 in Delta BC.

The program prioritizes registrations for Indigenous and Newcomer children followed by other highrisk nonIndigenous and Newcomer children within the school district and children who face barriers to accessing summer camps. Designed to be accessible and intercultural the camp integrates crosscultural awareness environmental responsibility and personal health and wellbeing through a fullfamily approach.

This position provides a blend of program management operational oversight communications and administrative support. The Program Coordinator II will work closely with Activity Workers and oversee their activities across camp sites to ensure that daily programming is engaging developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive. They will also facilitate handson activities organize field trips and special events ensure compliance with funding requirements and safety protocols and build strong relationships with families schools and community partners.

The ideal candidate is highly organized passionate about creating meaningful and engaging experiences for children and skilled at building rapport with children families staff and service delivery partners.

The Key Areas of Responsibility are:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive activities that align with the following 5 core outcome domains: SocialEmotional Development Connectedness Interests and Competencies Health and WellBeing Service to Community;
  • Coordinate and oversee daytoday camp operations across multiple sites: train schedule and supervise Activity Workers and volunteers;
  • Ability to plan field trips for both sites
  • Support staff with coaching guidance and ongoing performance feedback
  • Coordinate activities with Activity Workers and ensure alignment with program themes
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants by: Implementing safety protocols and risk management strategies Maintaining a healthy inclusive and childcentered environment;
  • Monitor and evaluate program success; maintain accurate statistics and data
  • Prepare reports for funders and internal stakeholders
  • Provide administrative support including: Program expense tracking and reconciliation Documentation communications and logistics;
  • Respond to challenging behaviors and crisis situations using traumainformed practices
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with: Parents and caregivers School personnel Local service providers and community partners;
  • Represent the organization at external meetings and events as required;
  • Attend staff meetings planning/review sessions and special events;
  • Adhere to organizational and departmental policies and procedures;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager Senior Manager and/or Director.

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • PostSecondary Education in a relevant field such as Child and Youth Worker Social Work Recreation Education or related discipline;
  • Minimum of oneyear related experience with youth community development outreach; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Fluency of an additional language is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of sports etiquette sportsmanship and rules of commonly played games and activities;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Experience facilitating group sessions and youthled activities;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and the ability to network and build partnerships;
  • High level of computer literacy including proficiency in MS Office (Word Excel Outlook) Windows and internetbased tools;
  • Effective documentation recordkeeping and reporting skills;
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work both independently and collaboratively;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team and resolve conflicts constructively;
  • Valid BC Drivers License (Class 5) to travel between sites as required.
