About the role
Family and Child Connect (FaCC) is a Queensland Government funded initiative aimed at ensuring vulnerable families and children have access to highquality services at the right time to help them to maintain the family unit. Family and Child Connect is a communitybased intake and referral service established across Queensland to support families who are at risk of entering or reentering the child protection system and to help families to care for and protect their children at home.
As a Case Worker with FaCC you will undertake an initial assessment of family strengths and needs determine appropriate support options to help them achieve their goals and follow up with services to ensure successful engagement. Typically we engage with families on a shortterm basis of up to 6weeks.
Duties
- Confidence working in a fast paced environment delivering high standard case work and responses to families.
- Confidence to engage with families in a voluntary and involuntary nature.
- Conduct initial assessments of a familys strengths and needs identifying areas of concern and goals.
- Identify and make appropriate referrals based on identified worries and goals.
- Provide information and advice to families based on their individual circumstances.
- Ability to complete comprehensive risk and safety assessments in the context of Child Protection and associated complexities.
- Liaise with key stakeholders in the community which includes delivering information to services about the program and supports available to families.
- Keep accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions and related tasks.

Skills and Experience
As an experienced Case Worker you will have a relevant tertiary degree in Social Work Psychology Human Services or similar and:
- A minimum of 12 months case work or case management experience working with at risk children young people and/or families in a child protection focused role including experience undertaking comprehensive assessments is essential.
- Excellent understanding of child protection issues and client vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use domestic violence mental health issues and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development along withexperience identifying and addressing child protection concerns.
- An understanding of the needs of diverse communities such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and LGBTIQA communities.
- Strong organisation skills time management skillsIT skills and ability to use technology in service delivery.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fastpaced environment ever changing environment.
- Ability to work unsupervised and remotely.
- High level of professional accountability and integrity and a belief that every parent has potential.
- A Current drivers license.
