Assistant Director
The Assistant Director for Student and Scholar Success is a member of the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) leadership team which provides leadership for the overall unit. This position has direct accountability for engagement initiatives that promote student and scholar success as well as leading and supervising fulltime OISS Advisors and student employees. The Assistant Director supports global DEI initiatives including intercultural education and training. The Assistant Director collaborates with a wide variety of campus partners including but not limited to International Studies and Programs Student Life and Engagement Office of the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education and the Graduate School. The Assistant Director collaborates with and represents OISS in various community initiatives. The Assistant Director serves as a Designated School Office and Alternate Responsible Officer.
Hybrid work statement: OISS is currently operating under a hybrid modality structure with staff working three days in person and two days remotely. This structure is subject to change at any time.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead OISS student and scholar success initiatives
Engage with student success initiatives across campus
Administration and supervision
Knowledge normally acquired by completing one or two years of postbachelor degree work such as a Masters in Social Science Communication Education or Humanities degree; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in immigration laws and regulations crosscultural counseling administration and fluency in a second language; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years of experience in international higher education; experience interacting with people from varied cultural backgrounds; experience in team leadership project management and website utilization; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Pursuant to requirements of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Department of State this position requires that the successful candidate be a U.S. citizen lawful permanent resident refugee asylee or lawful temporary resident.
Experience advising international students and scholars; experience conducting research needs assessments and satisfaction surveys; experience with global DEI and intercultural education and training and program development; demonstrated successful collaborations in a higher education setting; demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills
