Requirements

Requirements to Qualify
One (1) year of experience within the last five (5) years providing assistance to professional information technology staff AND providing routine customer information systems related tasks in a centralized IT organization.*

*A unit or department that provides comprehensive IT services such as analysis design acquisition development implementation maintenance and/or support of information systems under the direction of the organizations Chief IT official.

Acceptable Los Angeles County classes include but may not be limited to:
Veteran Intern Information Technology Support; Computer System Operator; Computer Operator Specialist; orComputer Systems Scheduler II.

License
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to use an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out jobrelated essential functions.

Physical class
2 Light. This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit and some bending stooping or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This examination will consists of two(2) parts:

Part I Multiple choice and/or simulation assessmentsweighted 80% covering:
  • General Problem Solving Skills
  • Service Orientation
  • Issue Resolution
  • Attentiveness
  • Navigation
  • Accurate Typing
  • Achievement
  • Learning Potential
Applicants may be invited to take Part I and II at the same time. However only those who pass Part I will have Part II scored.

Part II Multiple choice and/or simulation assessmentsweighted 20% covering:
  • Knowledge of Information Technology Service Desk Skills (Troubleshooting StartUp Problems Optimization Network etc.)
Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher oneach weighted test part in order to be placed on the eligible list.

Multiple choice and simulation assessments are not reviewable by candidates per Civil Service Rule 7.19.

Transfer of scores
If you recently took identical components for other exams the test responses may be automatically transferred to this examination. This exam contains test components that might be used on future exams and your responses could be transferred to that exam.

Test preparation
We provide study guides and other test preparation resources to help candidates prepare for employment tests. While the guides may help in preparing for the test we recommend reviewing all related materials that seem necessary.
Eligibility and Vacancy Information
Candidates who passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of six (6) months. We will use this list to fill vacancies as they occur.

Veterans Credit
If you served in the military and were honorably discharged you may qualify for Veterans Credit. We will need a copy of your form DD214 to review so please include that with your application or email it to as early as possible for prompt and smooth processing.
