Quality Staffing Inc. also doing business as Goddard Mason Executive Search a leading fullservice employment agency matching qualified talent with some of the areas top companies is looking for an experienced Programmer/Developer/FHIR Interoperability Specialistto work through our agency as a contract employee with the Tennessee Department of Health (TN DOH) located in Nashville TN.This is a hybrid position working from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Fridayfor a total of 37.5 hours and the pay rate for this position is $64.00 per hour.
FHIR Interoperability Specialist Job Overview:
The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) Office of Informatics and Analytics (OIA) Core Informatics unit is currently seeking a FHIR Interoperability Specialist to coordinate and support public health FHIR interoperability activities and related projects. The candidate in this position will work closely with other members and interoperability subject matter experts in OIA various TDH divisions and program areas and the state IT division Strategic Technology Solutions (STS) to support HL7 FHIR interoperability projects. The FHIR Interoperability Specialist plays a vital role in promoting and advancing FHIR to improve interface interoperability across TDH **MUST BE LOCAL TO THE NASHVILLE AREA**
Key Activities and Job Responsibilities for FHIR Interoperability Specialist position:
  • Interface Implementation:
  1. Assist with the design testing and implementing of electronic interfaces aligned with HL7 FHIR standards and TDH public health program requirements
  2. Apply informatics principles to ensure data transport and interoperability using HL7 FHIR standards
  3. Support HL7 FHIR interoperability projects including HL7 Helios FHIR Accelerator focus areas
  • Technical Support and Documentation:
  1. Provide HL7 FHIR subject matter technical expertise consultation and handson technical guidance for interoperability projects assisting with design and data flow of public health interfaces
  2. Develop and maintain documentation for FHIR interface workflows quality assurance processes and troubleshooting guides
  3. Actively participate and provide technical expertise and recommendations during TDH interoperabilityrelated meetings including facilitating interoperability and implementation discussions.
  • Strategy and Planning:
  1. Lead strategic planning work to assess agencylevel FHIR readiness including building capacity to adopt public health FHIR solutions
  2. Assist with TDH EDI Interoperability Governance Infrastructure and Architecture enhancement activities
  • Interoperability Standards:
  1. Maintain understanding of current and emerging public health interoperability standards and help TDH understand implications of current and future usage
  2. Participate in public health standards development activities specifically those public health standards and specifications determined important to helping meet the needs of TDH program implementation requirements


Education and Qualifications Needed for FHIR Interoperability Specialist position:
  • Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree in public health informatics epidemiology computer science computer information science or related information technology field with 5 years of relevant HL7 FHIR experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:PhD or Masters degree in public health informatics epidemiology computer science computer information science or related information technology field with 2 years of relevant HL7 FHIR experience.
  • FHIR implementation experience and FHIR interface work with public health or clinical information systems.
  • Familiarity with HL7 FHIR implementation guides.
  • Familiarity with electronic data interchange (EDI) engines such as Rhapsody.
  • Experience providing technical training on FHIR interoperability standards
  • Experience aligning technical workflows and data initiatives with state and federal public health priorities and FHIR interoperability standards.
Other Important Information for position:
  • As a member of the Office of Informatics and Analytics the candidate will get exposure and experience in the use and development of interoperability standards like HL7 and will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of informatics projects including system integration system interoperability electronic health record implementation and specific public health reporting projects.
  • This position may require some instate and possible outofstate travel.
  • There is the potential for presentation and public speaking opportunities.
  • Core Informatics staff will assist with emergency response situations when necessary.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Work must be performed in the U.S.
  • MUST BE LOCAL TO THE NASHVILLE AREA
