Job Description

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Safety: Create a safety culture through productive and authorized operational systems/processes that allow all employees (including contracting partners) to provide their outputs in a riskcontrolled environment. Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities. The Manager Technical Excellence E&M is also responsible to ensure that the ESTC under their care are compliant to and competent in executing work in accordance with the technical standards and procedures of Anglo Platinum.

Performance & Delivery

  • Lead the development of effective engineering and maintenance training programs in support of operational delivery.
  • Develop and monitor the implementation of engineering maintenance risk and operational strategies and plans aligned to the Asset Management Framework and Strategic Asset Management Plans as envisaged in ISO 55001 for the facilities in their responsibility.
  • Provides and oversees engineering services infrastructure (roads power water) and equipment availability are adequate and maintained to meet the training needs for the facilities within their care.
  • Develop a program of work that establishes a pipeline of potential employees that are competent capable and technically skilled engineering and maintenance personnel that enables a diverse and inclusive organisation.
  • Individuals that have been trained and qualified through the programs under the care of the Manager Technical Excellence E&M should be preferentially employable within the business when competing within the open market.
  • Responsible to support a recruitment strategy that is able to support the business requirements for employment.
  • Ensures that the ESTC and broader Engineering Academy have a modernisation strategy that is funded and implemented to ensure that the organisation continues to offer world class training program that is aligned to a changing work environment.
  • Responsible to support the exposure programs for E&M graduates and will also be responsible for the appropriate support of EITs in the completion of their Annexure Es.
  • Develops a program of work to support the uplifting of the skills of the current Engineering and Maintenance teamswithin the operations to support the Engineering Managers within the operations.
  • Contributes towards the development of Group Standards and Procedures pertaining to Asset Management and Engineering and Maintenance.
  • Ensure the training material and curriculum supports the published Business and Operational standards and procedures
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Implement embed stabilise and sustain:
  • Training strategy & associated service strategy to deliver against business expectations
  • Performance measurement;
  • Insourcing/outsourcing decisions pertaining to skills and training.
  • Succession plan with ready incumbents in all business critical functions;
  • People skills analysis and skills development plan;
  • Tools & facilities requirements;
  • Preliminary asset management risk register; and
  • Supply chain & materials management interface.
  • Stayinbusiness (SIB) programs aligned with a view on capital investment for 10 15 years
  • Physical Life of Asset Plans to guide SIB inventory strategies and requirements as well maintenance skills
  • LFI learning are up to date understood and incorporated into material.

People & Teams

Compliance

  • Develop required compliance governance in the context of the discipline on a business level.
  • Ensure compliance to internal and external regulatory legislative and permitting requirements

Qualifications :

  • Degree or National Diploma in Engineering
  • Government Certificate of Competency
  • Honours / Masters in engineering management or people management will be advantageous

Experience

  • 7 10 years Engineering experience
  • Proven ability in Mentoring and Coaching
  • Proven ability in building strong effective and energised teams
  • Proven ability in Capex project management
  • Proven ability in minimising Operational and Business Risk
  • Proven ability in protecting and managing capital assets
  • Experience in SAP: Planned Maintenance
  • Proven ability in mentoring and coaching
  • Strategic Vision 25 years
  • Proven ability in mentoring and coaching

Knowledge And Skills

  • Proficient skill in maintenance engineering and Asset Management
  • Advanced skill in developing strategies and implementation plans to support business expectations
  • Expert skill in developing and leading people
