Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Jobrelated experience in specialized field is required.
Education: Degree from TCAT Computer Technician or comparable experience
Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
SKILLS are required to perform multiple highly complex technical tasks with a need to
routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skillbased
competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include utilizing
pertinent network application operating system monitoring and troubleshooting software;
adhering to safety practices; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining
accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly
technical information; write technical materials and/or speak persuasively to implement desired
actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledgebased
competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include current legacy
and emerging operating systems; environments and network protocols; router configurations;
Inter/Internet applications; data security; and project management processes and methodology.
ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities meetings and/or events; often gather
collate and/or classify data; and consider a wide variety of factors when using equipment.
Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances
analyze data utilizing defined but different processes and utilize equipment under a variety of

individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a wide variety of types of
jobrelated equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create
action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of

competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: setting

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Technology

JOB GOAL: To Engage in Excellence regarding Technology for EVERY student teacher

staff member and administrator in Cannon County Schools.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Configure a DHCP server with scope options and reservations to implement with
endpoint devices. Examples: Computers security cameras access points and access
control devices.
Be able to use Google Vault to research students email history when requested by a
principal.
Be able to install the latest server operating system on a physical host and turn into a
hypervvirtual server.
Be able to install the virtual machines on the physical host and install the correct
application to be used.

Be able to install a print server and add network printers to be able to be deployed via
group policy. We are currently monitoring installing and configuring 75 networked print
devices. This does not include local print devices.
Support network copiers with scan and fax capabilities.
Know how to use Active Directory and be familiar with the FSMO roles. Examples:
schema master domain naming master RID master PDC emulator and infrastructure
master.
Know how to use MECM for imaging and distribution of software and updates.
Implement MECM to deploy software images to endpoint devices using PXE over UEFI.
Knowledge of diagnosing computer issues as they arise as well as repairing computer
power supply HDD SDD and NVME M.2 drives and randomaccess memory cards.
Manage warranties on defective devices to ensure these devices are repaired for use in the
district.
Continuous diagnoses and repair of Chromebook devices across the district. This includes
the repair of these device components such as screens batteries keyboards and power
packs.
Manage security policies and share permissions using Google Admin Console.
Working with Facility Administration recommendations set up camera server and
software for monitoring. This involves installation wiring configuration of camera
devices and server implementation.
Knowledge of T568A and T568B wiring standards as well as IEEE 802.1x standards.
Working experience with HDMI Display Port RJ45 RJ11 Coaxial USBC USB
Serial RS232 Fiber Optic SC Fiber Optic LC SingleMode Fiber and MultiMode
Fiber cable and connector types.
Knowledge of implementation of 1U and 2U server units as well as tying them into a
KVM switch.
Knowledge pertaining to UPS devices. Former experience installing diagnosing
repairing and replacing UPS devices and components.
Knowledge of NTP servers and services as well as the default protocol.
Experience with VOIP phones. This includes ensuring network port has POE and correct
VLAN configuration installation of sidecars for extensions on T46 Model Yealink
phones Configuration of both T46 T42 and W60 Model Yealink phones and working
with ENA voice engineers to program phones set up voicemail and ensure phones are
applied to the correct site with the correct extensions via the phone standardization set
across the district.
Install and Set up and Configuration process of 8301 ALGO Paging Adapter and
Scheduler including knowledge of setting up different zones for bell schedules per
facility needs.
Install wire and configure ALGO 8180 and 8186 SIP Horns.

Be able to install troubleshoot configure and replace a Bogen TPU60B Amplifier if
needed.
Have the ability to connect a Bogen DDU250 UniDirectional Dynamic Desk
Microphone to a Bogen TPU60B Amplifier correctly.
Ability to install troubleshoot maintain and repair/replace AIPhone devices at entrances
required as well as installation and configuration of AIPhone software on secretary
computer.
Be able to use a Microsoft IIS server and obtain a security certificate from a certificate
authority and Implement it.
Be able to implement SSL for Microsoft IIS web servers.
Install and maintain Raptor security systems and badge printers as well as train users on
system proper use for school system safety and security.
Install configure maintain and repair Horizon keypad devices for school cafeterias.
Install configure and synchronize cafeteria line and manager computers using Horizon
software.
Install and configure cafeteria computers. These computers use special software that
requires indepth setup and configuration.
Be able to correctly lift and mount 70 TVs.
Ability to run Cat 6 network wire effectively.
Be able to configure and upload NTC17 software for school zone traffic light schedules.
Install Hovercam document cameras and install correlating software.
Set up and use a GBC100 GoBox to mass configure new Chromebooks.
Ability to properly wire install and configure Kantech KT1 Door IP Controller ioSmart
card reader and Striker door lock.
Ability to use tools effectively for the installation of equipment. These tools include but
are not limited to Level Hammer drills power drills tape measures wire strippers
screwdrivers hammers ratchets Allen wrenches/keys etc.
Ability to properly use network tools. These tools include but are not limited to wire
crimpers optical fiber identifiers punch down tools tone generators RJ45RJ11
crimpers etc.
Ability to lift and climb ladders up to 40 feet as required.
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
Ability to properly label devices and network lines/patch panels.
Identify and resolve physical network issues. This could include improper placement of
patch cables improperly punched down Cat 6 cables in a patch panel or wall jack as well
as an array of other possible issues.
Ability to configure computer BIOS settings to Department standards for PXE boot/
UEFI requirements
Ability to maintain and upgrade/install software/firmware patches for Aruba Access
Points using the virtual controller or Aruba Central.

Ability to update and maintain Aruba switch firmware using HPIMC.
Ability to install modules and transceivers in Aruba switches.
Ability to configure Aruba switches. This includes using Telnet to set the correct IP
address and configure VLANs as well as other configurations using the department
standards.
Knowledge of how to enable Telnet client on a Windows workstation.
Knowledge of how to install .Net Framework 3.5 on a Windows workstation.
Advanced understanding of VLANs and their role in network operability.
Create district graphic designs for desktops letterheads and web page requirements.
Install and configure multiple servers including but not limited to FTP server
MyPassword Server Help Desk Server Print Servers Domain Controllers DHCP
Server User Lock Server Kantech Server Azure Server One Sync Server MECM
Server etc.
Knowledge pertaining to server backups and restorations using backup and restore files.
This would also be used to server upgrade instances.
Set up custom field mappings using One Roster to allow nightly syncs with Active
Directory using a Google Sheet.
Set up custom field mappings using One Roster to allow nightly syncs with Active
Directory using Skyward (SIS System).
Knowledge of all Windowsbased Operating Systems: Server 2012 Server 2012R2
Server 2016 Server2019 Server 2022 Windows 10 Windows 11 etc.
Experience and knowledge working with Microsoft Management Tools such as Active
Directory Domain Federation Services. This service package includes Active Directory
Users and Computers DNS DHCP Group Policy Print Services Hyper V IIS Services
LDAP etc.
Ability to properly create .VHDs and assign them to the correct network file share path.
Knowledge of Classlink umbrella (Classlink One Roster OneSyncLive) and how they
all interconnect together and with other services and platforms in the district.
Advanced understanding of how the Classlink umbrella syncs with other software
platforms.
Understanding of the synchronization between multiple platforms requiring information
from SIS (Student Information System).
Ability to diagnose and fix synchronization issues with all user accounts.
Ability to diagnose and fix synchronization issues between Active Directory and GADS.
Ability to diagnose and fix synchronization issues between One Roster and
OneSyncLive.
Knowledge on proper account creation steps using Active Directory and ensuring users
are in the correct security groups and distribution groups.
Ensuring Active Directory users attributes are correctly assigned by viewing the
accounts attribute editor.

Ensuring Network security by implementing security policies and constant evaluation of
the network and network file transfers.
Knowledge of maintaining Bull Wall Ransomcare services to ensure network and data
security.
Knowledge of installation and configuration of SMTP mail servers and which ports need
to be used dependent on whether the server is using TLS/SSL or not for security
purposes.
Be able to quickly and efficiently react to system alarms via monitoring systems.
Ability to conduct an IT audit on internal systems and deduce appropriate measures to
address network and system concerns.
Ability to assign security badges to new employees using the Kantech access control
server.
Knowledge and ability to implement the principle of least privilege when assigning
access control badges as well as user accounts.
Install and configure Promethean ActivePanels and eGlass lightboards in classrooms.
Maintain and monitor temperature in all MDFs and IDFs to ensure equipment is at an
optimal temperature.
Monitor and maintain backup generators to ensure communication in emergency
situations.
All other duties assigned by the Director of Schools.
