The ideal candidate will deliver a robust curriculum grounded in the Core Knowledge and Great Books programs with the potential to teach International Baccalaureate (IB) English at the high school level. This is an exciting opportunity to shape thoughtful articulate readers and writers within a highly supportive academic Responsibilities:Teach up to five daily classes across Grades 712 in alignment with the schools documented English dynamic objectivedriven lessons using classical literature Core Knowledge content and IB methodologies where and assess student progress through formative and summative assessments; provide timely feedback and grade and administer standardized testing as directed by the department chair and school in weekly departmental meetings to discuss curriculum development assessment practices instructional strategies and student an orderly respectful classroom using the schools assertive discipline staff meetings and schoolwide professional the mission and culture of Mystic Valley through additional duties as assigned by :Bachelors degree in English English Education or a closely related field (Masters preferred).Strong verbal and written communication ability to assess student work and provide clear actionable classroom management skills with a studentcentered working with diverse learners and adapting instruction to meet varied team player with a commitment to professional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple knowledge of relevant contentarea standards educational laws and classroom complete applicable MTEL exams within one year of & Evaluation:This role reports to the English Department Chair and is evaluated annually. It is an annually appointed position with opportunities for renewal and growth.
