Job Description

Welcome to Grayson College. Grayson College is in the heart of Grayson County and provides a vital link for higher education. GC offers small classes for personalized instruction affordable tuition caring professional faculty and the convenience of day evening or online classes. The college serves approximately 5000 students annually. Adjunct Criminal Justice Professor:
Role:
This position will have primary responsibility for instructing undergraduate courses in Criminal Justice following the academic standards of Grayson College. This position works to ensure that students reach learning outcomes. Teaching assignments will vary semester to semester and could include day and evening classes.

The salary for this position is $675 per credit hour.

Adjunct Responsibilities:
  • 60% Teaches no more than 9 credit hours per semester. Must be able and willing to teach hybrid courses.
  • 20% Works as a team member in the department; complies with the faculty responsibilities as outlined in the Faculty Handbook and the Colleges Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • 10% Contributes to the campus assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements.
  • 5% Evaluates reviews and recommends revisions to curriculum syllabi textbooks policy and procedures.
  • 5% Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair.

  6. Assesses student knowledge skills and abilities regardless of how or where the learning or skills were acquired.
  7. Participates in professional development and stays current in both the professional field and in current teaching/learning practices.

Qualifications:
  • A Masters degree in Criminal Justice or related field with 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice from and accredited college or university is required.
  • Previous successful experience teaching Criminal Justice courses in a high school university and/or community college is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years working in the Criminal Justice field (i.e. law enforcement corrections etc.) is required.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to engage students in the learning process and proven commitment to student success.
  • Must demonstrate cooperative attitude and excellent team skills.
  • Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information building relationships or soliciting cooperation.
  • Requires excellent computer and multimedia skills.
  • Knowledge of instruction testing and evaluation of students.
  • Requires excellent communication and organizational skills.
