**This Job is Located in Flandreau SD**

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Administrative Officer The Compliance Director will supervise preaward grant activities provide legal and technical assistance on postaward activities and serve as a policy analyst.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research and draft policies procedures and laws that further the Tribes ability to comply with required processes and best practices related to federal funding and other financial awards.
  • Identify and coordinate with relevant tribal employees and leadership to implement projects.
  • Assist staff with grant applications and implementation. Provide technical support to department directors who manage projects within their departments. Draft and review documents such as funding announcements applications job descriptions authorizing resolutions and contracts in support of the Tribes grant activities. Aid in drafting performance reports.
  • Interpret funding agreements and relevant laws rules and P$Ps. Propose solutions that further project efforts while keeping the Tribe in compliance.
  • Use grant software (currently eCivis) to keep records monitor project progress and set deadlines.
  • Route grant matters to the Administrative Officer Human Resources or Attorney general as needed.
  • Present updates/reports to the Administrative Officer/Executive Committee upon request.
  • Seek training and certification opportunities that will benefit the position.
  • Ensure stakeholder satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Master or Doctorate degree and five years of tribal administrative experience is required
  • A license to practice law in the State of South Dakota is preferred.
  • Masters level writing skills are necessary.
  • knowledge of arithmetic and simple algebraic equations. Able to estimate.
  • Must know about federal programs relevant to health housing roads agriculture language and culture and criminal justice.
  • Must maintain a high degree of professionalism
  • Must know or learn policies & procedures necessary to implement grant know or learn applicable tribal and federal laws rules regulations ordinances and requirements.
