SUMMARY STATEMENT:
This position requires a Spanish/English proficiency test. Applicants who successfully pass the language proficiency exam score at the Advancedmid or higher. EPS uses the ACTFL language rubrics in speaking and writing to interpret and verify assessment results. Any candidate with a recent Spanish/English proficiency test score from a recognized agency (within one year) can submit those scores in lieu of testing. It is strongly recommended that applicants applying for this position hold a Bilingual and/or EL endorsement and have knowledge/ understanding and/or experience in English Language Development and Dual Language Education
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implement Evergreen Public Schools instructional vision for biliteracy along with the guaranteed viable curriculum.
- Teach elementary content in both Spanish and English with a high degree of skill.
- Teach in a 90/10 bilingual instructional program that meets the students individual academic and linguistic needs and makes modifications when necessary.
- Implement instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for achieving stated objectives for instruction and student success including use of technology.
- Participate with other staff to cooperatively plan develop and implement a course of instruction designed to meet the needs of students in all curriculum area.
- Create a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning for all students.
- Participate with other staff to cooperatively develop effective positive techniques for improving student behavior.
- Participate in State Federal and District testing requirements.
- Provide positive supports and guidance to a diverse population.
- Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Assess students academic learning and/or skills for the purpose of providing feedback to students parents and administration regarding students progress expectations goals etc.
- Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting teachers expectations developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals.
- Maintain accurate complete confidential and timely records as required by law District Policy and Administrative Regulations including attendance IEP information progress reports cumulative records and classroom invent
- Collaborate with colleagues administrators students and parents for the purpose of improving the quality of student performance developing solutions and planning curriculum.
- Become familiar with and uphold the enforcement of school rules Administrative Regulations and District Policy.
- Demonstrate a professional and positive attitude when carrying out responsibilities as a faculty member.
- Perform assigned outofclassroom supervision and other duties.
- Participate in staff meetings planning events and grade level/department/PLC/Coaching Cycles/jobalike sessions.
- Participate in total building program including assemblies contests and other student activities.
- Engage in ongoing professional development at the school and district level.
- Develops cultural competence and commitment to equity in outcomes and opportunities for adults and students.
- Leads for equity towards college and career readiness.
- Nurtures a school environment that celebrates respects and values diversity where teaching and learning are made relevant and meaningful to students of various cultures.
- Publicly draws attention to all equity gaps that exist for various groups of students with plans to address their elimination.
- Initiates activities and discussions that lead to increased cultural competence of staff informing and expanding teaching practices within classrooms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of a Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Valid Washington State teaching certificate appropriate for assignment with an endorsement in Elementary Education.
- Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English. AdvancedHigh or higher fluency in Spanish required (reading writing and speaking); native Spanish speakers preferred.
- Holds or is able to obtain EL and/or Bilingual Endorsement.
- Successfully complete Washington State Patrol background check. Employee is responsible for cost of background check.
- Must be flexible exhibit a commitment to accomplishment possess outstanding communication and conceptual skills demonstrate appropriate and positive student relationships possess a strong professional orientation and be willing to actively participate in a team environment.

- Demonstrated knowledge or experience in Bilingual Education preferred.
- Demonstrated successful teaching experience at the designated grade level preferred.
- Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English. Advanced fluency in Spanish required (both written and spoken); native Spanish speaker preferred.

- Ability to teach elementary content in Spanish to integrate the teaching of content area vocabulary and to teach students to use language correctly through the content.
- Ability to modify curriculum and materials designed for use in other contexts.
- Familiarity with or willingness to acquire knowledge of language immersion models and curriculum.
- Cultural competency and ability to work comfortably in a diverse community.
- Understanding of Common Core in Spanish and English and English Language Development Proficiency Standards (ELPS).
- Preferred training and/or experience; or willingness to take course work to increase knowledge and use of the following instructional and engagement strategies to include:
