Sheridan School District is looking for a qualified caring individual for theschool year to be Sheridan High Schools Special Education Teacher. Provides small group instruction case manages students in classrooms coordinated intake and placement meetings facilitates IEP meetings and provides consultation to general education teachers.
Provide a classroom experience which contributes to individual and group excellence. Promotethe development of character leadership cooperation and respect for others that will make thestudents a better citizen.
The Special Education Teacher works in a program designed to provide a less restrictive alternative to the segregated special classroom. It provides an appropriate educational program for mild to moderately handicapped students who require support services in order to benefit from regular education.
The Special Education teacher provides students with direct remedial instruction in academic subjects cognitive processing and appropriate social skills. In addition to these specific individualized programs the staff may assist regular classroom teachers with selection of appropriate curricula and the development of behavior management programs. Students enrolled in the Special Education have a regular education homeroom and spend a part of their instructional day in the regular classroom. The Special Education teacher works under the supervision of the Special Programs Director.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of course work satisfying the requirement for issuance of a valid Oregon Teaching License with Special Education: Generalistendorsement.
Demonstrated competency through student learning internship or the equivalent or classroom experience.
Demonstrated ability to support and maintain school and district policies and to successfully plan and complete assigned responsibilities within identified resources and timelines.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and appropriately in speech and in writing in accord with educational standards.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team setting with school staff.
