The Lethbridge Police Service is currently accepting applications for a fulltime position as a Quality Assurance Technician. The Quality Assurance Technician
manages checks and balances for the Lethbridge Police Service Niche database. These processes will both build in and inspect in quality of work for both sworn and nonsworn members of all ranks and titles.
Hours: 37.5hrs weekly Monday to Friday
Wage: $40.24/ hour
As Quality Assurance Technician you will:
- Ensure completeness of Records Management Section files as per Federal and Provincial Statutes. All records are subject to public access and must be representative of the events within the incident. This is governed by the following acts: Privacy Act Library and Archives of Canada Act Criminal Records Act Statistics Act Security of Information Act the Policy on the Management of Government Information (Treasury Board Secretariat) Youth Criminal Justice Act FOIPP
- Identify sources of noncompliance and report on same
- Establish business rules and process manual for Records functions
- Provide support and training in areas of noncompliance
- Audit occurrences against identified performance measures to check for completeness accuracy and compliance with business rules
- Train employees in Records Management System
- Annual Role Call Training for all sworn police personnel re: Quality Assurance
- Representative on Niche User Group (International IT & Policing body for records management)
- Participate in Standards and Policies Committee establishing business rules for Police Records standards
- Test (user acceptance testing) new business processes for user and interoperability as related to Provincial and Federal guidelines
- Responsible for maintenance of Niche data tables
- Development and maintenance of Niche external document templates and HTML document templates
- Development and maintenance of LPS Word and PDF forms
- Run edit reports
- Data extraction and analysis
As the successful candidate you will have:
- A thorough knowledge of current Police files classification systems policies and procedures and Records Management Section processes is required
- High School diploma supplemented with relevant postsecondary education or equivalent and several years of related experience in a law enforcement environment or equivalent combination thereof
- Demonstrated ability in data quality and attention to details by achieving the minimum accuracy standards in the 9111 Reviews
- Previous work with Police Related database (CPIC Niche Join)
- Ability to understand organizational priorities and communicate same to peers and police supervisors
- Thorough knowledge of Criminal Code Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Other Federal and Provincial Acts
- Advanced knowledge of Niche RMS database and a high level of competency/data accuracy in file processing and task completion
- Computer skills including: word processing data navigation extraction and formatting using Adobe PDF Word Excel Power Point Outlook (email calendar contacts tasks)
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and have the demonstrated ability to present information in an appropriate manner
- Analytical and decisionmaking skills
- Ability to analyse problems and provide solutions
- High degree of organizational skills and high attention to detail
- High level of confidentiality tact and diplomacy
- Interpersonal skills combined with a professional approachable manner
- Very detail oriented
Testing may be conducted to verify your advanced knowledge of Niche and UCR.

As a prospective employee it is important for you to know that LPS has two facility dogs in the workplace. LPS facility dogs are here to support our employees in positive constructive manner. Further LPS facility dogs support the emotional needs of victims and or witnesses through the Criminal Justice Process. A Facility Dog is directed by a professional with specialized expertise. Facility dogs frequent many areas of our building. In addition we have police service dogs. Our police service dogs have minimal interaction with employees on site under the supervision of a trained handler.
