Underwriting Assistant Marine Hull
Based in London this role supports our senior underwriters as they manage a diverse and international portfolio of business efficiently and profitably. This role will work within the Marine Hull class of business. This role presents an excellent opportunity for those seeking to learn and develop foundational underwriting knowledge and skills within a specialist portfolio.
Hamilton Global Specialty is our multiplatform specialty insurer operating primarily through a Lloyds Syndicate and Dublin operating company with a managing general agency in the US.
What you will do
- Provide day to day support to the Underwriters encompassing the full policy life cycle delegated authorities and reinsurance arrangements
- Data entry to an inhouse system underwriting systems & pricing models & file maintenance
- Monitoring of statistics aggregates claims and maintenance of management information
- Extract and produce datasets
- Interpret and analyse underwriting data coming from various sources
- Delivery of regular and/or requested reports from the systems to team management
- Perform referrals (as required) in conjunction with Underwriters
- Assist with the preparation of quotes binders and invoices in accordance with company guidelines
- Ensure receipt and review of outstanding information to ensure consistency with the terms and conditions agreed at binding
- Ensuring new and renewal business is effectively and accurately processed
- Liaise with internal departments such as Finance Management Information Credit Control and Operations to prepare and review data for Lloyds and other regulatory returns
- Compliance and contract certainty slip checks
- Act in accordance with all applicable supervisory bodies principles rules and regulations
- Dealing with audit queries
- Monitor teams War risk exposures using Third Party Intelligence software
- Adhoc duties as may be periodically required
What you require for the role
- Previous experience working in a similar Underwriting Assistant role within the Lloyds market
- Good working knowledge of Power BI or if not this product specifically transferable experience in using interactive data tools
- Prior experience as an Underwriting Assistant preferably within the London/Lloyds market
- Strong communication skills and an ability to express ideas clearly
- Numerical aptitude
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (predominantly Excel but also Outlook and Word)
- A proactive approach and strong work ethic
- Customerfocused with the ability to establish good relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage time meet deadlines work independently at times and prioritize efficiently
- Drive and ambition to develop and progress
