Description

The fulltime starting salary is normally 24243.00 per annum. This will be prorated in line with your working arrangement of 18.5 hours per week at 0.5 FTE.

The GCSE Equivalency Test team have an opportunity for an experienced administrator to join their small friendly team. You must be highly organised reliable have effective time management skills and have excellent skills IT skills.

You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to flex communication style as you will be dealing with enquiries and queries from colleagues applicants and external colleagues.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You will work closely with the course lead and the team to undertake the duties that the role requires. These duties include:
  • Providing administrative support by responding to incoming telephone calls and to ensure callers are directed to the appropriate staff member.
  • Being responsible for the GCSE email inbox and inquiries directing applicants to the appropriate tests or staff.
  • You will gain an understanding of relevant University processes and regulations and undertake staff training as and when appropriate.
  • You will coordinate and maintain records including inputting data using a variety of different software such as spreadsheets and databases. You will be responsible for maintaining and updating excel spreadsheets as appropriate and respond to requests for information and data.

Skills and Experiences:

You must have relevant vocational qualifications such as a NVQ Level in Business Administration or able to demonstrate equivalent work experience and relevant skills.

  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy equivalent to GCSE English and Maths.
  • IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as record keeping.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to demonstrate an organised approach to work and ability to prioritise different tasks.
  • Ability and aptitude to learn new skills quickly.
  • Good attention to details and accuracy.

The working days for this are flexible but some of the week you will be required to work from campus.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
