Primary Purpose of Position:
Do you enjoy our state parks and want to attract inspire train and deploy volunteers for the Division of Parks and Recreation The NC State Parks is seeking a Volunteer Program Coordinatorto design plan and direct a statewide volunteer program for over 40 staffed locations and 20 nonstaffed locations and trails.

Key Responsibilities included but are not limited to:
  • Creates and implement the policy and procedures to establish and maintain the volunteer program.
  • Leads development of standardized documentation including volunteer job descriptions volunteer agreements volunteer evaluations award criteria etc.
  • Track and report procedures for recruiting interviewing hiring training supervising recognizing and retaining volunteers.
  • Monitors oversees and provides reporting on statewide volunteer activities to meet division and project objectives.
  • provides training resources and guidance to a team of supervisors to assist with training volunteers.
  • strategic decisions that affect the volunteer management and develops statewide relationships with external agencies corporate groups and other stakeholders to strengthen the volunteer program and secure volunteer resources.
  • Oversee software or applications to promote volunteer opportunities and volunteer tracking.
  • Initiates grows and enhances the use of volunteers across all core initiatives and programs.
  • Prepares and manages an annual budget related to volunteer management requisition of materials equipment and supplies related to volunteer program management.
  • Maintains files records and produces reports related to the volunteer program.

Position/Physical Requirements:
  • Work schedule will primarily be Monday Friday 9:00 am 5:00 pm.
  • Must be available to work after hours weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license within 90 days of employment.
  • Must be able to exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • CPR First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator(AED) certification required within 12 months of hire.
