Job Description

Position: After School Care Program Coordinator (Parttime) Department: After School Care Junior School

Reports To: Principal Junior School

Starting Date: June 1 2025

Application Closing Date: May 15 2025

Salary: $33.00 $40.00 per hour

As our After School Care (ASC) program enters an exciting phase of growth we are seeking a dynamic organized and enthusiastic After School Care Program Coordinator to lead and manage its daily operations. This is a unique opportunity to build upon our foundational program and bring your vision to life creating engaging experiences for our junior school students.

As a positive and experienced leader you possess a strong background in developing and delivering highquality recreation and sport programming within community settings. You excel at leading teams collaborating with diverse stakeholders and creating inclusive programs that cater to a wide range of needs. You are passionate about ensuring safe clean and welcoming spaces for children and are adept at navigating operational and administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications will include:

Proven experience in managing after school careprograms childcare or related fields.

Strong problemsolving organizational and timemanagement skills with the ability to prioritize andmanage multiple tasks effectively.

Thorough knowledge of local licensing regulations andrequirements for after school programs.

Excellent communication skills both written andverbal with the ability to interact professionally withchildren parents and staff.

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a teamfostering a positive and collaborative workenvironment.

Experience with administrative tasks including recordkeeping scheduling and basic budget awareness.

A genuine passion for working with children and acommitment to providing a safe fun and educationalenvironment.

Valid CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness toobtain prior to start date).

Collaborative team player with exceptionalinterpersonal skills and the ability to build strongworking relationships.

Superior Emotional Intelligence (EQ) skills includingstrong selfawareness selfmanagement social agilityimpact and influence.

Responsibilities include:

Program Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the daily operations of the After School Careprogram at the Junior School ensuring a positive safe and wellstructured environment for students.

Licensing and Compliance: Work closely with local regulatory agencies to ensure the program consistentlymeets all licensing requirements and standards. Develop implement and maintain operational policies andprocedures to ensure compliance.

Administrative Oversight: Handle all administrative tasks efficiently including creating and managingschedules overseeing staff and maintaining clear and consistent communication with parents. Ensure allprogram documentation and records are accurate and uptodate for licensing and compliance purposes.

Staff Recruitment Supervision and Training: Interview hire and onboard new program staff. Lead stafftraining initiatives ensuring all team members are wellinformed of licensing rules school policies and bestpractices in childcare. Provide ongoing supervision support and guidance to program team members.

Program Development and Implementation: Organize and execute a diverse range of engaging programactivities that support childrens development foster their interests and ensure their safety and wellbeing.

Creating a Positive Environment: Foster a nurturing inclusive and fun environment where all children feelvalued and supported.

Parent Communication: Communicate with parents regularly and professionally to address any concerns.

Budget and Resource Management: Assist with budgeting and resource management to ensure the programsfinancial sustainability and efficient use of resources.

Facility Operations: Oversee facility maintenance and operations related to the ASC program including trainingstaff on safety protocols scheduling space usage and ensuring the overall maintenance of program assets andlicensed spaces.

Safety and Risk Management: Follow established safety processes to identify and address potential hazardsensuring safe conditions within the recreation facility and during program activities including adherence tolicensing safety requirements.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues students community stakeholders and other schooldepartments to enhance program and service delivery and offerings.

Reporting: Prepare reports as required including updates on program operations and any relevant information.

Hours include:

Potential for shifts to be structured as 1:00 PM 6:00 PM to accommodate both administrative tasks andprogram delivery. There may be an additional 5 hours per week for administrative work outside of direct afterschool care supervision offering flexibility in scheduling.

Currently After School Care runs from class pickup at 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM on school days.

Significant opportunity to further develop and lead summer programming initiatives. Potential for summerprogramming (June/July) with a tentative schedule of 3 days per week with potential for some workfromhome flexibility when appropriate.

Following the August long weekend the regular school year schedule resumes with 5 days per week.
