JOB SUMMARY

The Asset Management Branch is responsible for the costeffective management of the Citys $20 billion public works infrastructure assets carrying out or overseeing the provision of planning analysis and needs evaluation specifications and Request for Proposal (RFP) development evaluation and selection.

You are responsible for planning and/or leading assigned infrastructure assessment studies and projects relating to the Citys road sidewalk pathway and guide rail infrastructures. You also lead the sections investigation of associated problems and inquiries and provide other infrastructure assessment services analyses and support to the section.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 4 year university degree in Engineering or Applied Science

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible and practical experience in the assessment of linear network systems infrastructure and renewal technologies

KNOWLEDGE

  • Complex municipal infrastructure systems (such as roads sidewalks pathways and guide rails)
  • Infrastructure rehabilitation techniques and theories
  • Engineering planning design construction/rehabilitation pertaining to the work and related national provincial and municipal engineering standards inclusion legislation regulations codes and Bylaw
  • Indepth knowledge of the Citys infrastructure including design operations and performance
  • Methods and techniques used in planning organizing and carrying out assigned studies/projects
  • Principles for evaluation of deficiencies in infrastructure system components
  • Legal issues pertaining to infrastructure system components specifically related to the preparation of supporting documentation for proceedings regarding litigation contract disputes and cost sharing
  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure Management Systems digital inventories and schematic mapping with an ability to determine data requirements feasibility and architecture to manage the inventory
  • General knowledge of renewal and rehabilitation technology methods
  • Computer applications pertaining to data base management GIS spreadsheet word processing email and use of the Intranet and Internet
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation including the rights and duties of workers

  • Proven ability to provide preliminary design of specific projects including the integration of existing infrastructure and future needs
  • Ability to read engineering drawings

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with contractors and consultants for investigation and inspection work

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize computers and specialized software associated with the job functions
