Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Image Scientist to join our aerospace engineering team. This role will lead research and development initiatives that advance imaging technology for EOI Spaces VLEO constellation. The position requires deep expertise across multiple imaging phenomenologiesoptical infrared multispectral and hyperspectraland a strong ability to test validate and refine sensor technologies.

As a Senior Image Scientist you will play a key role in shaping how imaging research translates into realworld impact working collaboratively with crossfunctional teams including the principal software architect hardware engineers and mission planners. Responsibilities

  • Expertise in simulation platforms such as DIRSIG and other modeling tools to generate synthetic datasets for sensor design and testing
  • Drive research into electrooptical remote sensing for our current sensor with expansion into new phenomenologies
  • Develop and execute validation protocols to assess sensor performance once in orbit
  • Research adaptive algorithms to enhance realtime processing and operational flexibility
  • Conduct research and imaging phenomenologies the initial focus is optical with potential for IR multispectral and hyperspectral
  • Work closely and collaboratively with our principal software architect for building repeatable processes and bestinclass techniques for image enhancement noise reduction and data fusion that are efficient and scalable within our onboard hardware configuration
  • Align prelaunch and inorbit activities with mission goals focusing on impactful realworld applications that align with the product goals

Requirements

  • Bachelorsdegree in optics engineering physicsor a related field is required with a graduate degree strongly preferred
  • 7 years in imaging science with demonstrated expertise in prelaunch and inorbit validation of imaging systems with emphasis on EO payloads
  • Proficiency in Python and Jupyter notebook for data analysis simulation and algorithm development
  • A minimum of five years working in a large complex interdependent organization that includes engineering and related functions.

Compensation

  • The anticipated compensation for this position is $160000$200000/yr depending on previous experience
