We are seeking an undergraduate to join our Power Grids business based at our Bishopstoke site. This will be a 12 month placement beginning in July 2025.
What You Will Be Doing
The UK Power Grid is seeing significant investment now and into the future as the transmission and distribution grid is enhanced to deliver the energy transition connecting low carbon generation to rising electricity demand. We are looking for a person who is keen to show enthusiasm in contributing towards these targets.
The Power Grids Engineering Design Team forms part of our High Voltage Business which provides customers with a diverse range of services from the supply of cable to the provision of jointing services through to full turnkey installation projects. This role will work closely with internal customers including the bid team projects and Energy Network Solutions (maintenance and repairs) teams.
The Design Team are responsible for developing effective cost efficient designs for High Voltage Cable systems.
The role will cover civil engineering aspects on designs of high voltage cable installation tenders/projects including:
The successful individual will be involved on real projects in real situations making a contribution to the success of the business and by the end of the placement you will have gained a high level of knowledge and experience to help you progress as an engineer (Full training will be provided on industry specific design methods and terminology etc)
The role will be predominantly office based but there will be opportunities to visit site to gain hands on experience on projects.

This role is based in our offices near the Eastleigh town centre. The address is Prysmian Cables & Systems Limited Chickenhall Lane Eastleigh SO50 6YU. There are good transport links to Eastleigh and the site is approximately 15 minutes walk from the railway station. We are able to offer free car parking next to our offices.
