Planning Intern

The Urbanism Advisory Planning group of AECOM is actively seeking a Planning Intern for employment in the Washington DC office.

This position is expected to begin in Summer 2025. 

The planning intern will serve on multidisciplinary planning efforts in the DC regions most treasured places from national parks to neighborhoods. As part of a highly collaborative team of urban designers planners engineers environmental scientists and economists the planner will produce planning documents and facilitate stakeholder engagement efforts to help municipal federal and private sector clients advance transformational projects in the region.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

• Compile data and conduct research in support of planning initiatives.
• Prepare reports presentations graphics and maps.
• Collaborate with team and client stakeholders.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

• Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Urban and Regional Planning or in another related field and must have completed at least two years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelors degree and plan to continue with the Masters degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelors degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field.
• Experience producing memorandums and reports.
• Experience with ArcGIS MS Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience researching and evaluating data.
• Positive outlook and cando attitude approach to tasks and teamwork.
• Ability to work independently as well as in multidisciplinary teams.
