Job Description

Senior Regulatory Compliance Manager

Were looking for a Senior Regulatory Compliance Manager to join our growing North America Regulatory Oversight Compliance team. In this role youll be a key partner in managing our regulatory obligations particularly as they relate to our U.S. bank partners and state/federal regulators.

Youll work closely with crossfunctional teams and lead our efforts in managing regulatory exams audits and partner due diligence helping ensure Wise remains compliant as we scale. Youll also help shape and evolve our secondline compliance framework providing critical insights to product operations and leadership teams and helping embed compliance into everything we do.

Your mission: 

 

As a Senior Regulatory Compliance Manager youll play a pivotal role in ensuring Wises adherence to regulatory requirements particularly those supporting our  regulatory examinations audits and partner RFIs.  Your responsibilities will include:

  • Regulatory Advisory: Provide expert guidance on state and federal laws and regulations including money transmission and consumer protection such asRegulation E UDAAP and the ESign Act.

  • Audit & Examination Management: Lead the preparation and management of all regulatory examinations and audits ensuring timely and accurate responses and coordinate postexam management responses. This role would be the first point of contact for any internal/external audit and exam requests. 

  • Compliance Framework Development: Support the development and maintenance of Wises Regulatory Compliance oversight framework including policies and procedures.

  • Third Party Risk Management: Lead the preparation and management of required reporting to bank partners and other partners in the US that require compliance support. 

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with operational finance product and engineering teams to ensure compliance is integrated into business processes.

 

About you: 

  • Previous Financial Regulation advisory role or experience in a Compliance/Legal department Risk and Controls function or in a consultancy environment;  

  • Familiarity with tools such as Excel Confluence Jira and Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) platforms.

  • Familiar with consumer compliance regulations including Reg E UDAAP ESign Act and state money transmission license regulations

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex regulatory frameworks and apply them effectively;

  • Ability to effectively communicate with Product Managers and Engineers and provide practical actionable and value added recommendations; 

  • Strong presentation skills;

  • Problem solving attitude with the ability to use regulations together with data to drive business decisions; 

  • Experience (or interest) in working in a fastgrowing environment; 

  • Willing to travel as Wise offices are located across different countries; and

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

 

Some extra skills that would be great: 

  • Experience working with international teams and understanding of global regulatory environments.

  • J.D. Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager or similar qualification

  • Prior experience working with the CFPB OCC and/or state regulator (e.g. NYDFS DFPI)
