Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer with advanced knowledge in VMware and NSX (VCPNV certification required) and a strong background in network design implementation and administration. The role involves maintaining the infrastructures stability optimizing performance and ensuring security in a hybrid inoffice environment. You must be local to Sacramento CA; able to work onsite 2 days a week via hybrid schedule (transitioning to 4 days onsite starting July).
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Architecture & Design:
- Design implement and maintain scalable network infrastructure to meet organizational needs.
- Develop custom solutions by leveraging VMware and NSX platforms.
- Network Administration:
- Configure and manage LAN/WAN connectivity VLANs firewalls routers and switches.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure seamless operation.
- Security Management:
- Proactively secure network systems and enforce compliance with company policy.
- Apply security patches and updates to hardware/software systems as needed.
- Project Leadership:
- Lead networkrelated projects ensuring deliverables are met on schedule and within budget.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams for smooth project integration.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Create and maintain network diagrams documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide regular reports on network performance and incidents.
- Mentoring & Education:
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on networking best practices.
- Stay current with industry trends and certifications; recommend upgrades or technologies as required.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in enterprise network engineering roles.
- Extensive handson experience with VMware NSX including design deployment and lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of core networking protocols and services (e.g. TCP/IP BGP OSPF DNS DHCP VPN).
- Excellent communication interpersonal and conflict resolution skills (mandatory).
- Proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and drive resolution of conflicting requirements (mandatory).
- Deep knowledge of network security principles and tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- VMware Certified Professional NSX (VCPNV) or equivalent certification.
- Experience with VMware vSphere and other virtualization platforms.
- Familiarity with public cloud networking concepts especially AWS.
- Working knowledge of automation and scripting tools (e.g. Python PowerShell Ansible).
