POSITION SUMMARY
The Mathematics Instructor will play a vital role in the Mathematics Program at HustonTillotson University teaching a diverse range of courses. This position requires the creation of an engaging and supportive learning environment that caters to both traditional and nontraditional students. Faculty members are expected to teach with enthusiasm and integrity upholding the mission of the University. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to urban undergraduate education actively engage students in research and bring experience in program development and curriculum enhancement.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a highquality competitive and uptodate educational program by preparing teaching assignments and presenting course material that is current challenging and thoughtprovoking.
- Deliver both theoretical and practical subject matter to students.
- Develop comprehensive syllabi and outlines for each course taught.
- Encourage and support undergraduate research in mathematics through coursebased projects.
- Hold at least 10 office hours weekly to provide student support and guidance.
- Advise and mentor mathematics students fostering their academic and professional growth.
- Assist with student registration and actively participate in regularly scheduled and special departmental and college meetings.
- Serve on standing committees as requested by the Department Chair Dean of the College Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs or President.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department Chairperson Dean of the College Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs or President.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- A graduate degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education with a minimum of 18 graduatelevel credit hours in mathematics courses.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proven potential for excellence in classroom teaching.
- Proficiency in online communication including email learning management systems and online homework platforms.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sensitivity to academic and cultural diversity fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- A demonstrated understanding of the Universitys mission and vision.
SUPERVISION
- This position reports to the Chair of Mathematics Department
SALARY RANGE
- $45000 annually and a comprehensive fringe benefits package.
