POSITION SUMMARY

As a Material Specialist you will be vital to the success and support of the operations through professionally and efficiently working with the production leads and supervisors to support production. You will be the critical liaison between the production team and the support staffs if/when spec issues shortages nonconformances etc. are discovered. Critical communication and problem resolution skills are essential in the daytoday activities of the Material Specialist. You will be responsible for managing and expediting as necessary the flow of products components and information through production to optimize operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

All employees are required to support Rosenbauers Mission Vision and Values. The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

  1. Manage and maintain timely product flow from the warehouse thru to the production line to support production indexing. A critical aspect will be to accept no defect and pass no defect through material cart audits and effective handoffs from the warehouse to the production team.
  2. Document and worktocompletion any/all shortages that occur for the value stream regardless of kitting nonconforming misplaced stock vs VMI etc.
  3. Manage and maintain all product availability in line side and kanban inventory storage locations to support the value stream.
  4. Participate and support cycle count activities to ensure inventory accuracy and continuity of product flow.
  5. Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  6. Support/Maintain effective and safe product storage practices.
  7. Maintain consistent daily housekeeping of all areas of responsibility.
  8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

K

Knowledge Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a forklift certification required.
  • 35 years of experience in a materials department preferred.

S

Skills:

Language:

  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Math:

  • Able to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers fractions and decimals.

Computer:

  • Able to perform simple tasks such as creating an email and using basic commands such as setting tabs opening and closing files and simple formulas.
  • Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.

A

Abilities:

  • Able to communicate progress of projects to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Able to identify quality issues recognize changes within the production process and adjust as needed.

  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
