The Department of Architecture is part of the School of Architecture & Environment within the College of Design at the University of Oregon an Association of American Universities member and tierone research institution in the Pacific Northwest that is ranked highest research activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. The Department of Architecture offers fully accredited graduate and undergraduate professional degrees in architecture a master of science concurrent masters degrees and a Ph.D. in architecture.
The School of Architecture & Environment main campus and the architecture landscape architecture and interior architecture departments are in Eugene Oregon. The Department of Architecture Portland Program is located in Portland Oregon. Both Portland and Eugene are socially progressive bikefriendly and familyfriendly cities with ambitious goals for carbon emissions reduction and community wellbeing. The Architecture Department at the University of Oregon invites applications for a Career Instructor in to teach studio and focus on housing as well as hold administrative roles including being the Director of Undergraduate Studies and Director of the OregonBILDS (Building Integrated Livable Designs Sustainably) Design Build studio program ( at the rank of Instructor I at the Eugene campus. This is a parttime or fulltime position with a focus on administrative leadership and teaching excellence. The position includes teaching 45 courses (parttime) or 89 courses (fulltime) per year during the fall winter and spring terms and working collaboratively with colleagues in multiple administrative roles.
We particularly invite applications from candidates who have both teaching and administrative experience with a focus on undergraduate curriculum housing and design/build. Candidates should be positioned to support a diverse student body to develop the values knowledge skills and practices they need to create better architecture and environments that resonate with people and their cultural physical and ecological worlds.

To qualify for the rank of Instructor:
A Masters degree in Architecture or related discipline
Previous teaching and/or creative practice experience
To qualify for the rank of Senior Instructor I:
Meet all requirements of Instructor plus
Six years of teaching courses post receipt of degree
Demonstrated experience working in the field of Housing
Demonstrated experience with academic Design/Build Construction projects
Experience working with the administration coordination and curriculum of a Bachelor of Architecture program
Experience with university student admissions processes
Demonstrated recognition of excellence in teaching and/or creative practice in architecture and with proven administrative leadership experience
Knowledge of and experience with UO software platforms including Banner Cognos and MyTrack and UO admissions processes and platforms
Experience in an institution of higher education and understanding of related organizational structures policies and procedures; or equivalent experience in a similarly complex organization
