SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT

The role of this position is to work with Tier II and Tier III students to address behavioral issues that impact academic achievement. This position will plan provide monitor and adjust targeted behavior experiences for qualifying Tier II and Tier III students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with building instructional staff counselors/psychologists building and district administrators other staff members parents and the community in order to ensure appropriate educational services and the ability to relate positively to students staff and parents.
  • Demonstrate competency in behavioral intervention and instructional skills.
  • Provides regularly scheduled proactive behavioral instruction to Tier II and Tier III students.
  • Uses data to group students with like needs and develop appropriate targeted intervention activities and establish specific planned goals. Provides evidence based Tier II and Tier III behavioral interventions for students in their school settings to support academic progress.
  • Develops and oversees the scheduling of behavior intervention activities in collaboration with building principal and program director.
  • Assesses and gathers data on each student on a regular basis to track academic and behavior progress.
  • Monitors evaluates and changes intervention groups as needed based on data.
  • Maintains positive relationships with parents of Tier II and Tier III students and keeps them informed of their students progress.
  • Requests support from parents as needed providing specific instructions on how to best support the intervention plan.
  • Provides behavioral management input to classroom teachers and other educators regarding the relationship between whole group classroom management and implementation of individual intervention plans.
  • Helps develop classroom interventions for student behavior issues.
  • Provides behavioral support and training to teachers students and staff in alignment with district policies and procedures. Trains and coaches staff in behavioral strategies around conflict and crisis management anger control and goalsetting.
  • Plan and support implementation of the essential components of an instructional program for students with behavioral needs to include: early intervention predictability and structure functional analysis of behaviors development of behavior intervention plans and systematic data monitoring.
  • Attends district level intervention meetings and professional development as required to remain current on best practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience

  • BA Degree in education psychology social work counseling or appropriate related field.
  • Five (5) years experience that shows candidates leadership ability in developing implementing and monitoring specific behavior interventions for students.
  • Training in the following: crisis intervention suicide prevention atrisk students PBIS and MTSS.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to gather assess analyze report and convey student data as well as incorporate literacy and mathematic instruction into other areas of instruction.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Ability to observe monitor and evaluate student performance.
  • Ability to take initiative work independently and effectively manage multiple projects with conflicting deadlines and/or priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidential material and information and exercise sound decision making skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse cultures.
  • Excellent communication and human relation skills.
  • Skilled in using data to monitor and change intervention strategies for students to achieve established goals.
  • Strong background in Applied Behavioral Assessments Positive Behavior Support plans and the design delivery and monitoring of Behavioral Intervention Plans.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience operating a personal computer and applications in word processing spreadsheet database and presentational software.

Required Certification & Licenses

  • Valid and current Washington State Teaching or Educational Staff Associate Certificate
  • Valid and current Right Response certification
  • Desirable Qualifications

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in the school setting. Teamwork and high productivity requirements create frequent extra hour days attendance at meetings before and after work. Must be able to talk and use fingers hands and arms and to listen carefully and focus while filtering out normal office noise. May involve negotiating steps ramps uneven surfaces and going outdoors in all types of weather to reach some classrooms or other buildings. Tolerance of occasional loud noises and ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time are required. Requires exposure to distraught angry or hostile individuals.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employees responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical dental vision long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation

Eligible employees are required to be a member of the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems Plan. For eligibility information check on the link to theDepartment of Retirement Systems web site.

These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allows you control over the amount of pretax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.

*Clover Park School District total possible pay consists of base salary plus the following:

Building Centered Responsibility 5 days

District Centered Responsibility 2.5 days

Event Responsibility 1 day

Attendance required for compensation of responsibility pay (buildingcentered districtcentered and event).
