TITLE: CUSTODIAN

SALARY: $18.26 hourly

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Performs general cleaning and custodial work in and about Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) buildings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED or completed a training program in janitorial work.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

• Basic math (add subtract multiply and divide).
• Basic English sufficient to read and understand simple directions.

ABILITY TO:

• Follow written and oral instructions accurately.
• Learn custodial methods supplies materials chemicals tools and equipment.
• Learn safety sanitization and energyconservation requirement of the Board.
• Work effectively with all types of people.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a valid Driver License. Must have physical strength and stamina to lift/carry/move heavy objects weighing as much as 80 pounds. Working conditions include indoor and outdoor environment; exposure to chemicals dust and dirt. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (heat and cold) confined spaces and isolated areas. Must be able to work on slippery or uneven surfaces and on ladders and scaffolds.

SUBJECTS AND WEIGHTS OF TEST SECTIONS:
The selection process is worth 100% of the exam grade and consists of a written examination. The passing score will be determined after the examination by the Civil Service Examiner together with the Secretary. Determination of the passing score will be based on the job analysis analysis of examination results consultation with subject matter experts other professional methods. Veterans points will be added to passing score.

1. FILING APPLICATIONS: Must be submitted through . Applications must be received no later than stated deadline.
2. Unless otherwise stated work experience requirements must be met by paid experience and all qualifications must be met by the application deadline date.
3. TRANSCRIPTS: (IF NEEDED NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE DATE FOR FILING APPLICATIONS). PLEASE NOTE: Copies of unofficial versions or internet printouts of transcripts are NOT acceptable.
4. ALTERNATE TEST DATE TIME LOCATION OR NECESSARY ASSISTANCE IN TAKING THE EXAM: Contact Margaret Key Testingin advance of the test date at (513).
5. PASSING SCORE: The passing score will be determined after the examination by the exam analyst based on the job analysis exam result analysis consultation with subject matter expert and/or other professional methods.
6. Application accepted from both citizens and noncitizens; however due to the Immigration Reform and Control Act only citizens and aliens lawfully authorized to work in the U.S. will be hired.
7. AGE REQUIREMENT: Must be at least 18 years old by the application deadline date.
8. SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR QUALIFIED DISABLED: Such persons may arrange with the test analyst no later than the application deadline for an alternate test date time or location or necessary assistance in taking the exam providing the security or integrity of the exam is not jeopardized nor an undue hardship (e.g. substantial additional cost or time) imposed. 9. VETERANS CREDIT:20% additional credit is given for military service or service as a Red Cross nurse. To qualify the following requirements must be met EACH TIME an application is filed for an exam; have an honorable discharge or transfer to the reserves with evidence of satisfactory service OR have been a Red Cross nurse; have served on active duty; and have shown an official document verifying such service (e.g. DD214) no later than the exam date; and have passed the civil service exam.
10. MEDICAL EXAM: Must pass any required medical exam before appointment.
11. SECURITY CLEARANCE: Applicants for appointment must successfully pass a security investigation which includes a checkof employment references and criminal records.
