You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailOperate sideload or rearload collection trucks and related hydraulic equipment to pick up solid waste and recyclables.
Load refuse and recyclables into vehicle and operate compacting mechanisms.
Conduct thorough pretrip and posttrip inspections; complete reports and logbooks daily.
Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.
Identify and properly handle prohibited waste items.
Maintain clean vehicle interior and exterior.
Adhere to all federal provincial and local laws and company policies including PPE and uniform requirements.
Interact professionally with customers and the public.
Supervise and support assigned helpers as needed.
Improve route efficiencies in collaboration with supervisors.
Attend safety meetings and training sessions; work overtime when required.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED (preferred).
Valid Class 3 Commercial Drivers License.
Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience.
Ability to safely operate waste collection trucks and related equipment.
Meets criteria for safetysensitive job functions per company policies.
Strong knowledge of truck systems equipment operation and basic maintenance.
Skilled at operating trucks in tight or hightraffic areas using mirrors and spatial awareness.
Ability to recognize and safely manage hazardous or unacceptable waste.
Proficient in reading route maps service documentation and safety instructions.
Effective communication with coworkers supervisors and customers.
Physically capable of repetitive lifting (up to 50 lbs) and extended driving periods.
Adaptable and open to continuous improvement and operational changes.
Follows all safety protocols and company guidelines.
Requires frequent standing walking bending climbing reaching and use of hands.
Regular lifting of up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs.
May sit for extended periods (up to 75%) while operating a vehicle.
Visual and auditory acuity required for safe vehicle operation.
Work is typically loud and may include exposure to dust fumes chemicals and varying weather conditions.
Outdoor work environment 100% of the time including exposure to:
Loud noise
Rain snow extreme heat or cold
Dust fumes vibration and moving mechanical parts
Continuous operation in motor vehicle traffic environments.
Occasional work in elevated or awkward positions.
