What You Will Do:
Join a highperforming acquisition engineering team supporting U.S. Air Force acquisition programs. This position is for an Airworthiness Engineer for the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. Duties include applying knowledge and experience in systems engineering policies and procedures to acquire and sustain Air Force weapon systems subsystems acquisition programs and product support strategies throughout their life cycles.
Airworthiness Engineering responsibilities include the following:
Focus on design assessment integration and management of complex systems over the product life cycle
Plan and review technical plans systems integration requirements verification and validation technical designs cost and risk analysis and supportability and effectiveness analysis
Conduct formal and informal presentations prepare technical reports papers and documents and participate in conferences and discussions related to assigned systems
Prepare documentation and presentation material for program milestones
Provide inputs on the evaluation of technical proposals
The candidate may also be required to perform a wide range of acquisition program office activities such as: gathering acquisition program information; conducting planning and analyses for all acquisition phases; assisting in acquisition and sustainment strategy planning; tracking and scheduling; implementing contractor performance status systems; assisting in establishing and maintaining databases; assisting in developing and analyzing key program metrics; assisting in developing and integrating risk management plans and strategies; supporting program briefings; and effectively communicating recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management.
What You Will Need:
An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED SECRET Federal or DoD security clearance; must UPGRADE and MAINTAIN a TOP SECRET Federal or DoD security clearance
Bachelors degree (A Masters degree can replace TWO (2) years of the relevant experience and a PhD can replace FIVE (5) years of relevant experience)
FIFTEEN (15) years of experience in an engineering field
Experience in design integration and troubleshooting of Aircraft Systems

FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) certification highly desirable
Strong understanding of FAA regulations as they apply to Airworthiness Certification for Commercial and Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft (MCDA)
Military Air Worthiness in accordance with FAA Order 8110.101AAFPD 626 USAF Airworthiness requirements and MILHDBK516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria

Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level II or above
Clear understanding of the DoD acquisition and sustainment organizations
Working knowledge in the area of System displays data buses (MILSTD1553B and ARINC429) test planning and conduct sustainment and operations covering airborne vehicles avionics and mechanical subsystems and FAA and Air Force airworthiness/certification process and procedures.
Working knowledge of technical documents determining sufficiency for demonstrating compliance with specifications and airworthiness means of compliance summarizing findings recommended changes and communicating all results to program offices.
Has performed engineering evaluation of prime and subcontractor recommendations for operational and support issues including but not limited to evaluations of Engineering Change Notices Engineering Change Proposals Contract Change Proposal FAA bulletins modification proposals program risk and related documents.
