The Opportunity

In this role you will perform general duty police work to protect life and property enforce laws and ordinances maintain order and prevent and investigate crime on campus. As a Campus Police Officer you will contribute to creating a safe environment where students can thrive and achieve their educational goals.

This is a fulltime (100% FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
This position works onsite on the WSU Vancouver campus. This position is not eligible for remote/hybrid work assignments.
Monthly Salary: $ 5783 to $ 7589 Range 61 Steps A to L Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance withWAC 35728.

Required Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent; twentyone years of age; possession of a valid drivers license; no previous felony convictions; U.S Citizenship; AND two years of fulltime college; OR one year of police experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license/certification/registration.
As a condition of employment the successful applicant must pass a physical agility test criminal background check polygraph test psychological test medical screening and general aptitude test.
Incumbents are required to obtain certification or complete a basic law enforcement course as approved by the Washington Law Enforcement Officers Training Commission.
Incumbents have arrest powers and are required to be commissioned law officers under the regulations of the State.
The position requires occasional work hours during the evenings and weekends.
Required to carry a cell phone and be available oncall after working hours. Some overnight travel is required.
Must have or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid drivers license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM7.10 and departmental driving standards.
