Summary of position: To provide art education to students in kindergarten through eighth grade with social emotional behavioral and learning challenges as well as supporting artrelated schoolwide events and activities. Must be receptive to supervision and professional physical abilities: Ability to work and stand for extended period of time. Job may require bending stooping stretching and lifting. Job requires the ability to perform therapeutic physical intervention as functions:1. Work as a part of a multidisciplinary team to further the emotionalbehavioral and educational development of children.2. Maintain a structured therapeutic classroom atmosphere that promoteshandson engaging teaching methods; effectively manage the behavior of studentsin small and large groups as per our behavior support system.3. Implement treatment protocol and appropriate therapeutic strategiesestablished in childrens treatment plans IEPs and individual support plans.4. Apply Walkers model of childcare including Therapeutic CrisisIntervention (TCI) which requires physical restraint when necessary traumainformedcare cooperative group games and behavioral support.5. Meet childrens physical needs and provide a safe and therapeuticenvironment for children6. Participate fully in the administrative functions of teaching and childcareincluding attending and participating in required meetings completing assignedreport writing tasks in a timely manner and actively communicating withstudents multidisciplinary teams and families.7. Actively participate in supervision and professional developmentopportunities offered at Walker.8. Follow and implement all Walker policies and procedures.9. Align units lessons and objectives with school and state standards.10. Prepare sequential units of study as well as daily lessons and materialsnecessary for instruction setting clear and reasonable standards and expectationsfor students.11. Plan and implement weekly art lessons for all classrooms and a weekly artelective.12. Take photos at school event using Walker devices and assist with thedevelopment of Walkers annual yearbook.13.
