Job Description

JOB GOAL:To help students learn subject matter and skills that willcontributeto their development as mature able and responsible learners.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salaryis basedon a nine and onefourth (9.25) month teacher contract (190 days) NOTE: Precise placement on the salary rangewill be determinedbased upon experience and education.FLSA: Exempt

TEACHERS SALARY SCHEDULE:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilitiesare intendedto describe the general nature and level of work being performed byindividualsassigned to thisposition. These statements are not intendedto bean exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of allpersonnelwithin thisposition.

  1. Maintainsaccurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administration regulation.
  2. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/orproceduresgoverning student life and conduct.
  3. Plans instruction designed to promote the social physical and intellectual growth and development of children;formativelyassesses student progress and modifies instructional techniques; plans a program of study that meets theindividual needs interests and abilities of the students; refers children to support services within the community as needed.
  4. Guides the learning process toward the achievements of curriculum goals by establishing clearobjectivesfor all lessons units and projects; integrates skills into units and learning centers in the classroom
  5. Prepares for instruction and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor; plans daily activities forparaprofessional; employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to meetindividualstudent needs and learning styles.
  6. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students; encourages students to set andmaintainstandards or classroom behavior; develops reasonable rules andproceduresin order tomaintaina classroom climate which isequitable fair and conducive to learning.
  7. Maintains an inventory of all equipment furniture and large center items; maintains a clean and orderly classroom.
  8. Monitorsindividualand/or group activities to prevent accidents and promote social skills; takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment material and facilities.
  9. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educationrelated purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms; works with parents to promotecooperation understanding of development and participation in the program; allows parents toobservetheir children in the classroom setting; assumes responsibility for encouraging and involving parents and community indecision makingrelative tothe development and implementation of programs at the building level.
  10. Promotes the community spirit of the School by being responsible to the needs of the administration staff and children of the Schoolat all times; uses language that is encouraging and constructive in tone and volume when communicating with children or parents.
  11. Meets and instruct assigned class in thelocationand at the times designated; attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required; makes commitment to time necessary for participating in District/schoolsponsored staff development; strives tomaintainand improve professional competence.
  12. Performs other duties asmay beassigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors degree minimum (some graduate work preferred).
  2. Must have an Arkansas Teachers license for Elementary EducationK6 orECEP4.
  3. Competence in the total teaching act.
  4. The ability to apply current educational theory and practice; of cultural socioeconomic ethnic and gender differences; and the principles of child growth and development when working with students parents administrators community members and support staff.
  5. Willingness toparticipatein ongoing staff development the ability to teach differences and sensitivity to cultural differences.
  6. Commitment to staff development and to apply new techniques in the classroom.
  7. The ability and willingnessto constructhandson education materialsto beutilizedin the teaching of identified curriculum skills and concepts.

Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and down stairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. Thispositionrequiresaccurateperceiving of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and/or objects and providing oral information. Musthave the abilityto work forthe duration ofthe daily contracted time period andto bephysically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year. Additional technical skills knowledge and abilitiesmay berecommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
