Department Information: The Department of Mathematics offers B.S. degrees in Pure and in Applied Mathematics in Teaching Mathematics and in Statistics. It is a studentfocused department that prides itself on discussionbased learning on its commitment to student learning and to undergraduate research. We have generous lab facilities for our students.

Position Description: Applications are invited for a tenuretrack position in Statistics at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2025.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a doctorate in Statistics or a closely related field and is required by time of appointment. Demonstrate research productivity and/or promise in statistics or a closely related field. Preferred research areas include financial econometrics time series analysis and volatility modeling. The candidate must have experience using R in the classroom and demonstrate an interest in teaching a broad range of mathematics and statistics courses to a diverse body of students engaging undergraduates in research and statistical consulting. Serious consideration is given to candidates who demonstrate an interest in Al technologies in the classroom. Prior teaching experience at the university level is required. Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse socioeconomic cultural and academic backgrounds including firstgeneration students.

Teaching and Research Duties: The teaching load will be 12 units/semester where most of the courses are 4 units each. Almost all courses in the Department of Mathematics include an activity/problem solvingsession. Assigned time for research and grant activity is standard during the first two years of the tenure process and subsequently on a competitive basis. It is expected the successful candidate will develop a research agenda and maintain a publication record. Interdisciplinary collaboration with other faculty in the University is expected.

Clery Act: CSUBs annual crime report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus in certain offcampus centers such as our Antelope Valley Satellite Campus and on property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from CSUB. The report also includes policies concerning security on campus such as alcohol and drug use crime prevention reporting crimes sexual assault and other subjects. Additionally a daily log of offenses is maintained and can be reviewed at the front desk of the Department of Public Safety.
