Reporting to the Manager Policy and Projects the Senior Trade Advisor will be responsible for:
- Serving as the Project Manager and leading projects and initiatives related to key Alberta trade and export activities strategic grants program reviews program designs software and other types of projects for the branch division and ministry.
- Providing advice and recommendations to senior leadership delivering presentations leading trade related briefings ministerial correspondence and action requests providing guidance and mentoring to other staff.
- Supporting and maintaining strong collaborative relationships within the ministry across government and with external stakeholders.
- Leading the planning and coordination of Ministryled and crossministry initiatives.
- Developing and leveraging relationships across governments in the Government of Alberta and with external stakeholders to lead develop and execute programs for high priority incoming international delegates.
- Research analyze and prepare trade data reports and/or briefings with recommendations for decisionmakers on issues that can help inform strategic decisions by government and industry.
- Proactively identify emerging issues trends and opportunities based on the analysis of quantitative data and qualitative market intelligence from a variety of internal and external sources and formats.
- Determine the appropriate approach and resources to support the coordination of initiatives with multiple stakeholders with competing priorities and differing perspectives.
- Acting as manager and playing a leadership role within the team as a senior member.
This position demands a high level of creativity originality and innovation independent research ability to identify implications define issues and develop creative and appropriate solutions. Projects involved are usually diverse in dealing with strategically complex issues and are closely related to the ministry business plan and mandate items. The incumbent requires the ability to exercise independent judgment due to the level of interaction with both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications
Minimum Recruitment Standards
- University graduation in a related field (Economics Business Public Administration Arts/Humanities Social Sciences)) plus 4 years of related experience or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Relevant knowledge skills or experiences include:
- Possess superior project management knowledge and experience with the ability to lead projects and research across diverse teams in developing strategies conducting analysis or in policy and program development.
- Experience preparing and providing options analysis reports briefings and presentations.
- A practical knowledge of data economics statistics crossjurisdictional and environmental scanning.
- Able to foster stakeholder relationships with internal and external clients.
- Experience in or understanding of international trade and export promotion and good knowledge of the Alberta economy and its key sectors.
- Awareness and understanding of the business plan goals of the Alberta Government and the Ministry of Jobs Economy and Trade.
- Able to function well in a teambased environment which includes a high level of interpersonal skills.
- Able to complete tasks independently when directed/required.
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Word Excel PowerPoint SharePoint).
- Ability to travel within the province as required to engage stakeholders and execute projects.
