Summary
Reporting to the Director Marketing and Communications the Public Relations Coordinator plays an instrumental role to support activities for the Concord Hospital Health System brand image and reputation. This position supports the implementation of marketing and communications tactics that strengthen the brand service lines and programs. This role provides comprehensive support and assistance with daytoday department activities exercising critical thinking strategic judgment and creativity. In addition this role will provide project support to the Director of Marketing and Communications the team and others as requested. Essential to the job are strong interpersonal writing organizational and communication skills.
This position is the primary liaison to all media representatives and is proactive in cultivating positive media relations to benefit the health system and enhance our visibility and proactive communications to our communities. This position supports our project plans and timelines including but not limited to the CH Update Concord Hospital Trust newsletters news releases media advisories media story pitches strategic thought leadership annual events and plans proactive media plans and crisis communications and supports two priority projects including the Management Report to the Board and the Annual Report.
Education
Bachelors Degree in related field required
Certification Registration & Licensure
None required.
Experience
5 five years in a marketing and communications role preferably in healthcare dedicated written communications relationship management and media relations experience
Competencies
Demonstrated writing skills and experience in traffic coordination or project management.
Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications:
- Responsible for project planning intake and prioritization of work communicating with key clients and stakeholders to assure understanding of the requests and timeframe required to complete.
- Problem solves with team members to overcome challenges that impede the ability to achieve agreed upon goals and commitments.
Media Relations/Public Relations
- Write and disseminate news releases media advisories photo releases calendar announcements and story pitches to appropriate news media outlets utilizing external support as needed.
- Writes key organization press releases.
- Oversees media relations coordinating press releases statements and pitches to accrue earned media visibility while also responding to inquiries from the media always aware of brand and tone to assure that the organization is represented positively and fairly.
- Participates as appropriate in community relations activities representing the department and the organization positively to external audiences.
- Regularly placing proactive positive media stories while also managing reactive or crisis communication needs.
- Develop an annual community engagement plan working collaboratively with other groups.
- Develops / maintains positive relationships with local broadcast and print media representatives.
Marketing Operations
- Employ project management techniques to achieve project completion on schedule and on budget.
- Serve as marketing communications liaison to Foundation team for agreed upon project support.
- Participate in the development of the organizations serviceline strategic marketing plans.
- Coordinate monthly or quarterly meetings with assigned service lines leads to review work in progress.
Creative & Production
- Write edit and/or proofread copy for a variety purposes (e.g. publications newsletters brochures advertisements internal announcements etc.).
- Collaborate with external design and/or production firms to produce content.
Events
- Develop and lead the strategic thought leadership project and events that align with health care recognitions and strategic priorities of the health system.
- Provide promotional and logistical support for special events and community outreach projects (health fairs and other consumertargeted community outreach activities).
- Attend to the details of special event implementation and followup collaborating with internal personnel and external resources as needed.
