Job Description

We are seeking a detailoriented proactive and knowledgeable Building Quality & Performance Inspector to lead inspections ensure construction and energy efficiency standards and support longterm asset performance across our portfolio. This role blends quality control project oversight and energy efficiency analysis to maintain high standards across both new construction and existing multifamily properties.

Position Overview

A Multifamily Residential Building Performance Inspector (also known as a Multifamily Quality Control Inspector) is a building professional who ensures the quality and effectiveness of energy efficiency upgrades and installations in multiunit residential buildings. They conduct inspections review performance data and prepare reports to verify that projects meet requirements and that installed measures achieve the intended performance.


Primary Responsibilities:

Inspections & Quality Control

    • Perform preand postinspections of units systems and energy efficiency upgrades.
    • Use visual assessments and diagnostic tools (e.g. thermometers air velocity monitors) to evaluate workmanship safety and compliance.
    • Identify document and communicate deficiencies in materials installations or construction techniquers.
    • Ensure all work meets applicable building codes safety regulations energy standards and company policies.
    • Create and maintain inspection reports checklists and recommendations for corrective actions or performance improvements.

    Project Oversight & Construction Support

    • Collaborate with project management teams to ensure quality control during new construction and renovations.
    • Conduct progress inspections on development sites providing realtime feedback on construction quality.
    • Coordinate closely with contractors developers and site managers to ensure timely resolution of issues.
    • Support the handover process from construction to operations ensuring units are fully prepared for occupancy.

    Building Performance & Energy Efficiency

    • Analyze building performance and energy consumption data to evaluate efficiency and identify areas for improvement.
    • Recommend corrective action to optimize energy savings and performance across building systems.
    • Educate building owners and stakeholders on energyefficient practices and longterm costsaving measures.

    Ongoing Maintenance & Asset Management

    • Support preventative maintenance planning and lifecycle management of building systems.
    • Monitor aging assets for signs of wear deferred maintenance or capital improvement needs.
    • Contribute to the development of longterm quality strategies aimed at preserving asset value and reducing repair costs.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma required; additional education in building science engineering construction technology or energy management preferred.
    • Handson experience in construction quality control building inspections or energy audits.
    • Experience in project management property maintenance or capital planning is an asset.
    • Proficient with diagnostic tools inspection software (e.g. Yardi or equivalent) Microsoft Office Suite and data reporting tools.
    • Familiar with building codes safety regulations and energy efficiency standards.
    • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities with attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with contractors site managers maintenance teams and leadership.
    • Confident in educating stakeholders and presenting recommendations clearly and persuasively.

    Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

    • Regular site visits across multiple properties within the portfolio.
    • Ability to walk stand and inspect units for extended periods.
    • Occasional lifting or handling of light construction materials/tools.
    • Work involves both indoor and outdoor environments depending on project needs.
