Position Summary
The Avionics Manager is responsible for oversight of the repair stations avionics function and daily supervisor of avionics staff. This position ensures that the equipment is functioning properly tools materials and personnel are available and working productively and all work activities are safely executed and completed on schedule.
Required Duties and Responsibilities

- Works in close consultation with the Service Center Manager Chief Qualify Inspector and Director of Maintenance to ensure all work is completed in accordance with the repair station manual.
- This position is responsible for all aspects of managing the avionics team; Including but not limited to hiring terminating training developing reviewing of performance and administering corrective action for the avionics team.
- Serves as the subject matter expert responsible for all management of avionic maintenance repair or alteration of aircraft components.
- Oversight of timely and accurate avionics quotes. Works closely with maintenance sales on estimates and scheduling.
- Communicate with sales and customers regarding status of inwork aircraft. Upon delivery go over the install with the customer; Answer questions explain features.
- Generates electrical engineering diagrams via CAD including parts and master drawing lists.
- Creates all certification documents including 337 Flight Manual Supplements EMI/RFI procedures ELA and weight and balance
- Coordinate with avionics dealers (Collins Garmin Honeywell) to ensure compliance with dealership agreements and insurance requirements.
- Management of department specific databases and subscriptions for the fleet including XM weather Tracking Gogo NOAA ELT biannual ELT renewal.
- Manage FCC Licenses when needed.
- Assist with inspections as necessary.
- Ensure parts procurement process is followed and work with customers to approve orders.
- Audit of work orders during and at completion of work for proper time allocation of techs and nomenclature.
- Research manufacturer technical data and perform inspection testing adjusting and repair of avionics equipment.
- Provide support during installation for when the aircraft doesnt match the existing configuration or drawings register new products with manufacture provide certification documents STC Flight Manual supplements EMI/FRI procedures ELA and weight/balance to the inspections department.
- Inspect components of avionics equipment for defects such as loose connections and frayed wire and for accuracy of assembly and installation.
- Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness.
- Responsible for departmental safety and awareness of potential hazards including exposure risks for chemical or hazardous materials. Promotes safe operating habits for avionics team and safe operation of equipment.
- Ensures area is secured at the close of shift. Maintains good safety and housekeeping practices for the avionics department.
- Maintains reliable regular and predictable attendance.
- Successful completion and favorable results of preemployment drug screen and criminal history background check.
- Adhere to all Aero Air policies and standards of conduct.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to travel 10% of the time.
- Must maintain a valid U.S./state issued drivers license with clean driving record.

Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years of experience in related aircraft avionics.
- Avionics engineering CAD experience.
- Experience working with Collins Garmin and Honeywell products.
- Working knowledge of MS Word Excel and Outlook.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in aviation management engineering business or related field or comparable work experience
- 2 years in a leadership role within an avionics or maintenance organization.
- FCC General Radio Operator License preferred.
- Airframe and Powerplant License preferred.
- Experience using Corridor and maintenance/parts manual access software.
- Experience with DC9 MD87 Lear 31/35 Pilatus Phenom Mustang and Gulfstream or any combination of these aircraft.
Working Conditions
- Working near moving mechanical parts and near fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Work is typically performed in an indoor hangar or outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.
- Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times without assistance.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds with assistance.
- Requires the ability to regularly read hear talk stand walk bend kneel stoop crouch crawl and climb.
- Accurate hand/eye coordination.
- Finger dexterity is required as well as hand strength with the ability to grasp lift push and pull.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally required to climb on a ladder.
- Ability to wear and utilize personal protective equipment.
