Job Title: Principal Business Development

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with senior division leaders as well as with business development technical and functional teams to meet segment financial objectives. This involves engaging with customers identifying potential business opportunities and contributing to corporate and segment strategic growth initiatives. The role supports the Space Superiority and Imaging (SSI) Divisions Space Ground Solutions (SGS) Business Area which delivers advanced software processing solutions to Title 10 and Title 50 clients for their airborne and spaceborne Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

Reporting directly to the SGS Business Development (BD) Lead the candidate will be tasked with formulating and implementing strategic plans aimed at securing wins in the T10 market. Success in this position requires proactive and regular interactions with U.S. Government customers and the creation of internal documentation that clearly communicates these strategic plans in alignment with L3Harris procedures.

Essential Functions:

As part of the business development team and in partnership with corporate and business segment leadershipthe successful candidate will:

  • Lead strategic campaigns for the SSI/SGS driving initiatives that target new business growth in customized ground solutions supporting ISR missions for core DoD customers as well as adjacent agencies within the DoD; i.e. US Space Force/Space Systems Command US Space Command and Space Operations Command.
  • Act as a liaison to Space Sector growth efforts advocating for the interests of the Space Superiority and Imaging Division.
  • Cultivate relationships with partners consultants and subcontractors to gain insights and forge alliances that position L3Harris for capturing emerging opportunities. Scout for new markets untapped needs and potential pursuits or campaigns relevant to the SGS Business Area.
  • Pinpoint opportunities that align with ground software/solutions and facilitate the handover from earlystage Business Development activities to laterstage BD or Capture Management. Strategically prioritize customer interactions involving Senior Management when beneficial.
  • Support the collection and analysis of competitive intelligence to deepen L3Harriss understanding of customer needs and competitor strategies. Aid in the analysis of Government and Customer Budget data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Promote a culture of business acumen that adopts a strategic and proactive stance in aiding business area leaders to identify actively chase and secure new contracts. Assist capture teams by providing competitive assessments and crafting win strategies.
  • Represent L3Harris Corporation at customer meetings Industry related meetings and conferences. Collaborate with related functions to advance business pursuits and advocacy including marketing communications government relations business development leaders and capture teams

  • Facilitate the qualification of new opportunities leveraging synergies across L3Harris segments sectors and divisions to deliver optimal value to customers.
  • Integrate customer insights into segment strategies to align with their perspectives.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning to enhance our grasp of the technical advancements sought by current and prospective customers.

  • Translate complex technical details of products and technologies into clear customerfriendly communications for engagement purposes.

  • Manage budgets for new business initiatives and contribute to strategic planning for internal research and development efforts.

  • Implement and oversee campaign strategies in line with business capture plans.

  • Lead and support the business acquisition process through milestone and gate reviews covering stages from opportunity identification to proposal submission.

  • Serve as a catalyst for change within the business ensuring that strategies and campaigns are aligned with mission objectives and customer needs.

  • Coordinate participation in industry forums and conferences to establish L3Harris as a thought leader in spacerelated strategic opportunities.

  • Collaborate with technical experts to define R&D projects that anticipate future trends and provide innovative solutions to customer challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Experience engaging with senior executives at relevant government agencies major prime contractors small and newspace companies
  • Established contacts with DoD customers particularly with US Space Force/Space Systems Command US Space Command and Space Operations Command.
  • Bachelors degree or higher with aminimum of 8 years of experience or post graduate degree and 5 years of experience. Engineering degree desired but not essential
  • Understanding and familiarity with broader space and airborne Space Domain Awareness market focused on supplying customized ground software solutions.
  • Disciplined selfstarting professional who can bring projects to closure with minimum direction guidance and oversight
  • Experience leading new business pursuits
  • Ability to lead and develop relationships with geographically dispersed people
  • Demonstrated ability in competitive analysis customer analysis win strategy development proposal and color team leadership and priceto win analysis
  • Must work independently under limited supervision
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to Travel up to 20%
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office tools
  • Preferred Clearance: DoD Top Secret with SCI (DoD Secret will be considered)

In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role in New York State and Colorado is $143000 $266000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
