About the Position

Girton Grammar School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Humanities Teacher to inspire and challenge students to improve their skills and understanding of Humanities. Youll design and deliver engaging inclusive and educational programs that encourage skills development teamwork and optimal outcomes for students.

Your role will be to create design develop and deliver curriculum in line with evidencedinformed practices that is challenging educational inclusive and encourages optimal outcomes.

    Key Selection Criteria

    • Deep curriculum and subject knowledge with a passion for promoting mastery through explicit instruction and knowledge rich content.
    • Skilled in explicit instruction and evidenceinformed pedagogy including strategies such as retrieval practice spaced learning and formative assessment.
    • Commitment to continuous professional learning engaging with the science of learning and reflective practice to improve student outcomes.
    • Strong communication organisational and administrative skills supporting structured and predictable classroom environments that maximise cognitive engagement.
    • Commitment to student wellbeing and child safety applying inclusive and developmentally appropriate practices aligned with diverse student needs.
    • Effective and purposeful use of digital technologies supporting explicit instruction differentiation and student selfregulation.
    • Active participation in cocurricular activities recognising their role in enhancing student motivation identity and socialemotional learning.

    Essential Qualifications/ Skills
    • Previous experience and/or the capability to teach History and Humanities to students within Year 7 to Year 10.
    • Relevant teaching qualification in Humanities and Social Science (History) or extensive experience teaching History along with a current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration or ability to obtain VIT.
    • Knowledge of the Disability Act 2006 (Vic) and its implications for schools students and the role of a Teacher.
